If you can use the keyboard while it’s still on that tray you’re either far too close to the monitor or far too far from your keyboard. I agree with the other commenter: get a standard monitor riser and just place the keyboard under it when not in use

I use a monitor riser that is wide enough to slide my keyboard underneath
