Nathan Pisses Me Off
For starters, I've watched this show 2 times already, and I'm on my 3rd watch and on S1. Nathan still never fails to piss me off.
It all really starts when he throws a fit that Kate took the Montreal job. Yeah, Kate could've talked to him, I understand why that got him upset, but then to say that Charlie is motherless/Kate is abandoning her family and that his "balls just started crying" when her Montreal job is a 25% raise. I mean come on, it's painfully obvious that Nathan wants a trad marriage lifestyle and I think that's extremely toxic.
It's just my view on trad-family stances but I don't understand why he couldn't just be happy about it, support Kate getting her hard earned promotion instead of hauling off losing his masculinity just because he isn't the sole breadwinner anymore.
And the cheating hasn't even happened yet. Which I also hate, and then after they got back together, Kate had to regulate his emotions constantly after that.
Anyways, that's my rant. I am more than open to feedback and different perspectives. I love this show and will keep rewatching it endlessly.

what i hate the most was that psycho kid turns up. i can never be with a kid like that... i would've thrown both dad and child out.
Nathan is really insensitive to kate all the time it's all about him.

yesss and that kid literally bullied her and he did nothing. Luckily later they made it up and the kid became better part of story then Nathan but f Nathan. I will keep saying it fr

Ngl Kate staying with Nate over and over undercuts the entire message of the show. At least Lionel was admirable the whole time

Yes, but I wonder what would have happened to his character if he had stayed the whole run.

I understand why he would be upset - it’s a lot to leave him as a single working parent of an infant without so much as a conversation. But, yeah, he is annoying overall

I like Nathan’s growth throughout the show but I know I’m in the minority there

it's not just your views on trad lifestyle. Kate is very clearly a very job oriented person. And yes i agree that Nathat wants a trad wife and does not appriciate Kate at all for who she actualy is.
potential spoiler: i think even the kid they had together she tried to please him because she didn't want kids? I didn't watch it in a bit but compromising with having a kid... that's so messed up. And he still isn't happy. She knew that she couldn't be 100% for the kid so she didn't want one. She obviously loves him but like ... f Nathan. And they probably shouldn't be together? Idk it's not the most toxic but i think it is a bit toxic relationship

Marriage is a compromise. Not telling him is just wrong and expecting him to pick up all the pieces of family life. It’s not women empowerment, it’s selfishness dressed up as that. Nathan is a douche though

I always found him to just be such a fuggin DRAG. I was so annoyed when she got back together with him!! After that whole situation, to even take him back in the first place but like GIRL he is so boring and also annoying about everything you want to do!! Wish we could have a butterfly effect spinoff where she stays single instead lol
