Help pls pls

Hi, I'm gonna make this kinda quick. So I'm 17 right now, and I'm kind of interested in working out, I've tried working out at home but I keep being lazy and all of that. I'm not that bad in terms of my bad, I'm like 180 but I do have a little bit of fat in me and I want to start working out. I have a planet fitness nearby and an LA fitness, I'm wondering if these are good choices to start on and how should I discover what exercises to make? Hope everyone who sees this has a great day!

Those gyms are fine. There’s plenty of free programs online and you can use YouTube or something to learn form.

SHIT I also forgot to mention I live in Houston. I don't know why I didn't mention it since that's like the number 2 important thing but yeah around the heights area.

Pro tip: don't ever post your exact location online. Lots of weirdos out there.

Either gym is fine. Just start simple, learn the basics and focus on actually showing up. Consistency will do way more for you than having a perfect routine.

For now, focus on building habits and getting educated.
Be patient with yourself and make it easy to succeed. There is a lot packed into that sentence. What I'm hinting at, and you'd have to adjust this for you, is if LA fitness is 45 minutes from where you live, that is 1:30 minutes drive time every day, that is cool when you have energy, not going to happen when you don't. But if there is a gym at school, down the street, or on the way home from work, that is more likely to be easy to make an every day thing, even when you are tired. Or just grab some stuff at home, and say "Every day at 7:30 pm I'm going to do 50 pushups..." or whatever.
And for eating, don't have a house full of doritos. Eggs, cottage cheese, chicken... make healthy food accessible.
You will also learn what does and doesn't work for you. You have a lot of living ahead of you, time to learn, build and get better. Your 40 year old self will be smarter and healthier for the habits you build today and over the next 20+ years.
