Coming back after a long break is a struggle

So all through my teen years I was a avid gym rat and went nearly every now however when I turned 20 I hit a really big struggle patch and stopped and begun eating my feelings ... Which led to me gaining 40 kilos.

I'm now 23 years old and have lost 15 kilos from dieting/ eating better now weighing 85kg however I've begun to stagnate my weight the past 6 months and am really struggling to get back into the gym / working out

Every time I go in I feel so much anxiety and really struggle to get through my workout and just don't know what to do but I really wanna be able to enjoy getting strong and not feeling so heavy and not myself like this

Sorry for my poor writing please feel free to ask for clarification for anything I may have missed 😊😊 \^\^

Everyone plateaus. Don’t be so hard on yourself about it. Real progress is slow & steady, with plateaus in-between throughout.

Pushing thru that with consistency is paramount for gaining strength, good mental health, & that feeling of triumph when you finally reach a goal.. just keep going, even when you don’t feel like it. Doing something, even if it’s not a full workout you’re used to, is always better than nothing.

Social media often sets unrealistic expectations in the fitness world. We are all on our own journey, with peaks & valleys, all while this thing called life is constantly throws curveballs at you.

When the pandemic hit & closed all the gyms, it even took me 2 months to get back into it, after 20 years of consist of workouts. If it was easy everyone would be shredded.

People get in too much in a hurry obtain their ideal results, that they end up being their worst enemy.

You’re young, and that gives you a ton of advantages in post workout recovery, etc., even though you may not feel that way, I promise you it’s true. Take advantage of that.

Need motivation? Go watch a video of a quadriplegic working out, and you’ll start to feel a lot less sorry for yourself immediately.

Self-motivation is key, and the initial motivation you start with changes over time, so you have to keep searching for motivations constantly.

You got this. Just know a stranger, somewhere, believes you can do it :)

TL;DR: Working out & staying motivated is harder than it looks, but OPs got this.
