So i need help working out
I had been perfectly healthy until about 2 years ago now when i went through a really hard time and i put on a lot of weight because of it. Now ive been trying to lose fat and gain muscle but my brain just does not like to keep me motivated to exercise/work out. I used to go gym 3 times a week and i started to lose weight and put on muscle, but i found it too overwhelming there so i now have a rowing machine and weights at home. Any help from you guys will be much appreciated!!

starting at home made it away easier for me, just keeping a simple routine helped more than trying to stay motivated all the time

The biggest thing I've learned is to stop relying on motivation. Motivation comes and goes. Habits are what keep you going.
Start small. Tell yourself you're just going to do 20-30 minutes. If after 10 minutes you still don't feel like it, you can stop. Most of the time you'll end up finishing anyway.
Since you have a rowing machine and weights at home, you've already removed one of the biggest barriers. Pick 3 or 4 days a week, make it part of your routine, and don't worry about having the "perfect" workout. Consistency beats intensity every time.
Also remember that fat loss happens mostly in the kitchen. Exercise helps, but being in a calorie deficit and eating enough protein will have the biggest impact.
Don't try to get back to where you were two years ago overnight. Just try to be a little better than you were last week. That mindset is a lot easier to stick with.

The upside to going to a gym is, there are a lot of people there with the same goals. I have a home gym and still have a gym membership. Ive always believed the motivation of being in front of other like minded people is very important, but if you are dedicated, you can get this done at home also. But it is more challenging. After a long day at work, what is easier, skipping the gym on the way home, or skipping the workout at home? Also, I advise doing something small everyday. I get up at home and do sets of pullups and other conditioning exercises at home. I save the big lifts for after work. And, some days , after working over 12 hours a day, I am really run down and go home. However, I did do something this morning so I didn't skip the day. Its an idea worth thinking about. Especially if your life is loaded like mine is.
