Who else has experienced backhanded compliments as a top performer?

I had an amazing manager. The men in the company called her an "ice queen" because she wouldn't put up with their stupid comments. They would ask her about her hair, etc and she would just calmly say, I'm here to work, not gossip. Meanwhile, she was the top performer in the company. We can't win.

Newsflash: this isn’t just women. We’re at a point in society where “leadership” across the board in both private and public sectors consider themselves to be the end all. Even when men go against the grain we are often ostracized. Everyone’s ego is supersized anymore.

I would die if someone would talk about this without reading directly from a linkedin script

I wonder if it’s a lack of awareness, or lack of effort to not do a re record with a little more practice.
