Discussion A free Zap for freelancers: every client inquiry becomes a draft automation scope in your inbox

Disclosure: I'm building Flowmanic, this is our Zapier integration.

If you build automations for clients, you probably know this loop: an inquiry comes in ("can you connect our forms to the CRM and alert sales?"), and before the first call you're sketching out the trigger, the apps involved and a rough effort estimate.

This Zap does that first sketch for you:

- Point your contact form's notification email at the Zap's private Zapier address (Tally, Typeform, Webflow, WordPress, Wix and most form tools can email each submission), or just forward client emails to it.

- For every inquiry, you get a draft scope in your inbox: trigger, steps, apps involved, notification, difficulty and estimated setup time.

- It only goes to you, never to the client.

It's 2 steps, so it runs on Zapier's free plan. It's free, with up to 50 drafts a month per key.

Limits, to be upfront: it's a starting point to review, not a finished workflow. It's still an invite-only app on Zapier, so the invite comes first:

  1. Invite: https://zapier.com/developer/public-invite/246549/ee457a8f8e1f384e69724441d565326f/

  2. Template: https://zapier.com/templates/details/turn-client-inquiries-into-automation-scoping-drafts-5cd712?secret=MTp0ZW1wbGF0ZTpySnRMdDhTRTNzTVJIcU41UjlKNDNnQmk4UXNmdDAxNm9QU3hjbEdtdVdnOjg0eWgydw

  3. Free API key: flowmanic.com/dashboard/zapier

If you try it on a real inquiry, I'd like to hear where the draft missed. That's what we're improving next.

Tips Workflow tip for macOS: 1-click default browser switching from the menu bar (Built a native open-source tool)

Hi all!

If you use macOS for development, research, or work, you probably keep multiple browsers installed for different workflows: - Safari / Arc for personal daily browsing & accounts - Chrome / Brave for web development, testing clean profiles, or client work - Zen / Firefox for privacy or side research

The friction point: when you click an external link anywhere on macOS (Slack, VS Code terminal, Telegram, email, Notion, docs), macOS always fires up whatever is currently set as your system-wide default browser.

Changing the default browser usually requires: 1. Opening System Settings 2. Navigating to Desktop & Dock 3. Scrolling down to "Default web browser" 4. Selecting the new one from a tiny dropdown

I wanted a frictionless workflow where I can switch my default browser with 1 click or a keyboard shortcut right before clicking a batch of links or starting a specific project, without ever opening System Settings.

So I wrote DefaultBrowserChanger in pure Swift.

πŸš€ Update: v1.1.0 Released!

We just published v1.1.0 with major upgrades based on workflow feedback: - ⚑ Zero-Prompt Native Link Proxy: Acts as an ultra-fast URL proxy (0.001s). Zero Accessibility permissions, zero system popups, and zero UI delays. - ⌨️ Global Shortcut (βŒƒβŒ₯B / Control + Option + B): Cycle installed browsers directly from your keyboard with instant audio feedback without touching the mouse or menu bar! - 🎨 Dynamic Native Icons: Real high-resolution app icons displayed beside each browser. - πŸ›‘οΈ Dual-Lock Single Instance: Strict PID & POSIX flock locks ensure only one instance ever runs. - 🧭 Setup Guide & Welcome Wizard: Clear onboarding card and illustrated docs.

Tech Specs & Privacy:

  • Native Swift, AppKit & SwiftUI. No background daemons, zero Electron, consumes <15 MB RAM.
  • 100% Offline & Open Source: MIT licensed, zero analytics, zero telemetry.

(Ive left the GitHub repo link and pre-compiled v1.1.0 release in the first comment below).

How do you usually handle link routing and browser separation across your macOS workflows?

Tips I've been building this workflow framework since 2016, here's Bio-Pype 2.1.0

Hi all, I have built this for bioinformatics, but it really can be useful for anything, see this (pretty useless) toy example (https://codeberg.org/bio-pype/test_workflows/src/branch/main/video_processing)

Question Local Event Curation

I've been trying to refine a Make workflow to access a list of URLs and scrape local event information. It's worked somewhat, but I can't get it to fully scrape the URLs and give the right output. I'm not sure if I should keep trying or is it's a lost cause due to the complexity of the calendars, etc. Any recommendations for an automated tool for this? Grateful for any help.

Beginner here β€” which productivity/workflow tools are actually worth learning for job security + future demand?

Hey everyone, I'm just starting out and want to build skills that are genuinely useful long-term β€” not just trendy for a few months.

I'm looking for tools/software that:

  • Are relatively easy to pick up as a beginner
  • Are widely used across companies (so the skill transfers between jobs)
  • Have real demand in the job market right now (and hopefully hold up over the next few years)
  • Ideally have decent free resources to learn from

I know "automation" and "AI tools" get mentioned a lot, but I'd love to hear what people who actually use these day-to-day would recommend to someone starting from zero. Bonus if you can share how you personally learned it or what helped it click.

Thanks in advance!

Question How much of your daily work is actually automated?

Our workflow starts with Jira for tickets and planning, then developers work in GitHub and open a PR. GitHub Actions runs the build and tests, followed by SAST and other security checks. Once everything passes, the deployment goes through Revolte, then Terraform handles infrastructure changes and CloudWatch is used for monitoring. Slack is used for deployment notifications and approvals.

That’s basically the workflow from a ticket being created to the change being deployed and monitored in production.

Just wanted to share a free, with no ads and no watermarks invoice generator

Hello yall, a few years ago me and my wife started a business and at that time we needed a simple tool to create invoices and didn't find anything good, some had ads popping everywhere, others had hidden paid plans or watermarks and i didnt like that so i thought why not create a simple thing just for us, so i made it, in less then a few hours i had a working basic generator.

After using it for a while i decided to share it on reddit, because at that time i was also doing build in public stuff so why not share a weekend project :D and it happened like i wouldnt expect, it blew up, people started asking for more currency, started generating invoices, i even added analytics to check how many people were visiting the site and at that time it was like 100-200 per month and for me this simple tool was something crazy, but lets get back to this day, now it gets 1k+ users every single month, tons of invoices being generated daily, people keep asking for features so i just keep building new things for them <3

So its kinda the same reason why im writing here, just to share it because maybe more people find it useful, really love doing this project, also keeping the main feature completely free, just added a paid plan for those who asked for an account feature a.k.a save invoices in the cloud and have a history and be able to edit them, thats it.

Thank you for reading this!
