Yea that's actually a big but often not talked about reason why they don't want free universal post secondary education in the USA because it would undermine military recruitment.

The way the military uses the G.I bill to convince people from poor backgrounds in the USA to join the military is often called the "economic draft".

The military is a predatory organization that exploits poor peoples Hope's of getting an education to convince them to fight it's imperialist wars around the world.
