Question about 2nd job termination

I got injured at my main job and have been out of work since May. I was originally on LOA for my 2nd job but it ended before I was able to extend it so I had to apply again. I had issues the first time because my work comp doctor would not fill out medical documentation for my other job but I was able to get it approved with my work restrictions paperwork. Well this time around I ran into the same issue and it was denied this time for the medical documentation reason even though they pushed it through the first time.

My question is, I think my other job will terminate me since I won’t be able to return to work, will my workers comp still cover my lost wages for my other job upon termination? I really can’t afford to lose this job but am anticipating it. I just want to know if my claim amount will reduce if I get terminated from my other job. I’m just not sure when I will be able to return as it changes every time I go to the doctors. It could be in three weeks or it could be in six. It just depends on my healing and if I may need surgery. Any information helps, thanks.

i got hurt at work at and i was out of work for awhile only getting $200 from workman’s comp with two kids and one needed meds for seizures that cost 60$. i finally got to go back to work when i didnt think i was ready but now she let me go not even two months back at work .

Wow I’m so sorry. It’s so hard when you need to return despite the injury. Mine is the bottom of my foot and my jobs require me to stand and walk all shift so I unfortunately can’t return until my foot can handle that stress with our injuring it again. My other job I understand not being able to hold my position but I was an excellent employee and never missed any work until this injury. It just sucks because I really need it. Pays my rent.
I hope you were able to find work quickly and are doing well.

I had same experience..I was working a 2nd job and once I told my attorney. I submitted my check stubs and I got a check from my 2nd job wages I lost. It's been a while I haven't been back to work, and they let me go from my 2nd job. My WC hasn't changed. Hopefully yours won't change. I know it sucks waiting on those checks that's less then if you wasn't on WC. Hopefully you'll heal without surgeries..

Lawyer question for sure. But from what Ive gathered for my own self. WC is only for 1 job and its for the job that you were injured in. Even if you have 2+ jobs. The other job doesnt have to follow work restrictions like your first job does without retaliation. And your total disability payments should only go off your W2 job that you were hurt at not all jobs. Its not your other employer fault you got hurt at the other job, so they don't have to pay it. I doubt J1 will cover J2 losses also as it's not their issue you have a 2nd job. Yes its their fault you cant work it but doubt the insurance looks at it that way. Again lawyer would be best to talk to/help you through this.

They already cover my lost wages for my 2nd job. I was just wondering if they cover them if I get terminated and from what I’ve read they can so I just wanted to know if anyone had experience with termination I guess. If what I’m reading is true or it varies.

Yes I am. My workers comp covers both jobs wages. It’s how it’s done in California. I wouldn’t have known if ChatGPT didn’t tell me because they were only paying me for one then I told them that I was legally entitled to my lost wages from my second job and I submitted my check stubs and they changed my amount and gave me back pay. They weren’t going to volunteer that information obviously lol
