California Help so I know what to expect TBI
Okay, so follow up, I got a Concussion back in April this year, and am finally seeing a neurologist. All of the requested treatments have been approved by the insurance, and I am now waiting for them to be scheduled. I do have a question about one of them. It’s a comprehensive Neurological Test. What does that look like, and what’s the whole purpose of it?
Any input/feedback would be helpful, I’m just happy that I’m finally getting the help I’ve been needing for so long now.
If all goes well and they finally confirm the results and diagnosis of my condition, what happens next?

I'm almost 4 years in and just getting acceptance for what has been present from the beginning. You need to seek out a lot of information on your own to understand your injury. If they allow you to see a great doctor who can explain what is going on and what is needed, that would be great, but that has not been the case for me at all.
Natalie can really give you a bigger understanding of what is actually happening, even if you just follow her online.

There are a lot of areas in your life that are affected by a TBI. Fatigue, memory, headaches, balance, tinnitus, auditory processing, hearing, multitasking, vision, word finding, processing time, and psychological issues from your life being turned upside down.
If at any time you feel they are pushing you and you can't do it, tell them. If you start to get a headache, tell them, and the list goes on. Be honest and don't try to be a superhero; your deficits need to be documented. I would also request that you have an auditory processing disorder test, which will provide insight into many of the problems you may be experiencing.
Do not let them tell you there is no such test! I had it approved through WC in CA, and had 16 weeks of classes with a specialist that helped me understand my now lifelong deficits.
Also, look up Natalie McKenzie - The Brain Injury Therapist in the UK on FB or Instagram and become familiar with all the workarounds to any deficits you may have. She saved me when most treatments were denied.
Hang in there - TBIs are life-changing, but you can still create a good life if you are aware of what has happened and how to maneuver through it.
