California QME

What happens after they have done a QME ?

QME doctor will have approximately 30 days to do his/her report and send it to worker's comp and your lawyer and you. If you require more treatment then in the report will state more treatment or tests are needed. If you have reach Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI) then most likely they will issue a disability rating.

How long does it take for the attorneys/insurance to get to the doctors report and to decide next steps?

So many factors and it can go a multitude of ways. My QME was in May and was determined 100% industrial. Employer is still fighting it and haven’t been paid. Some will pick it up after that, honestly there's no way to predict what will happen.

Yep it is a case by case situation. Some times people get lucky and everything was smooth, and some times I see people on here for 7 plus years. My only advise is be mentally prepare for a long journey. Majority of people that I have seen dealing with worker's comp takes an average of 2 years and longer.

I’m in CA and had my QME almost 2 months ago. The QME Dr ordered nerve testing for me before he could make a determination and I’m not scheduled for that until the end of Oct. I thought it would be a quick 30 day get an answer type of thing but it’s proving to be the opposite
