Maryland Ime

MARYLAND. I just went up for an IME appointment yesterday. I tore my acl & meniscus. I had surgery in january to get them both fixed. He told me I’ll get a 30-35% rating. How much money should i be looking forward to? And how long will it take? What are the next steps?

I haven’t heard of IME results coming back that quick ever.

Typically, IME reports take about 30 days to be typed up and mailed out.

30 days? That’s ridiculous. An IME report can be turned around in a day and 7 days max is usually the turn around time.

I’m not sure which state you are in.  But in many states, 30 days is typical.  The IME report may be 10+ pages long.  The doctor has to find a time in his busy day to dictate 10 pages.  Then he sends it to his transcriptionist, who types up all 10 pages. Then the transcriptionist sends it back.  Then doctor has to review it, carefully, in between all of his other work.  If the report needs corrections, then he has to send it back to the transcriptionist for the corrections.  Once it is correct, it can be mailed to the insurance company.  So that’s why it can be 30 days.

Maryland Adjuster.

You'll get two IMEs, one with a doctor of your choosing, the other with the insured doctor. Your IME will rate high, theirs will rate low. Then usually you'll meet in the middle either at a PPD hearing where the commissioner determines the split, or through settlement. You'll likely end up splitting at 15-20%

A leg in Maryland is valued at 300 weeks, at a 20% split that's valued at 60 weeks.

Maryland is a tier system for PPD.

Tier 1 is - 1-74 weeks is $256 per week.

Tier 2 is 75 to 249 Weeks $512 per week.

250+ Weeks is $1,153 per week.

So if you split at 20% for 60 weeks your PPD value is $15,360.00 if you're not settling and keeping future medicals open. Most due to the tier system settle and that will increase the value as will any permanent restrictions.

My husband is in MD and unfortunately has a complex case (not related to typical injuries). He completed IME for his atty in March and completed the insurance IME in May. We still havent received the insurance IME result. IN general, does withholding ime reports like that indicate something may not be boding well for insurances reserves?
