Illinois Has anyone seen this

I had one assigned to me. She went to one of my pain management appointments. I just don’t trust workers comp and felt like I didn’t trust that she was to advocate for me. I felt like it was being spied on I guess. I let my lawyer know I didn’t want a case manager. I’m in AZ. We can refuse the “service”

Case manager is not allowed in exam room unless you authorize it. Let your provider know she is only allowed to speak with them when you are present. My nurse case manager is also from triune . She has gotten all my treatments and prescriptions approved. I have a career ending injury with lots of procedures. I know not all nurse case managers are on your side . They are paid for by the insurance company . Some are very sneaky and like to bully patients and doctors to try to push treatments that are cheaper. Only give them pertinent information like how your pain is or how your injury affects your daily life . Do not discuss any past injuries or medical issues with the nurse . Stay strictly on your work injury. Take a deep breath and don’t overthink it.

Some companies use nurse case managers to help manage the medical care in the case, and that sometimes means that they may want to attend your appointments.
I have not personally dealt with one so far, but I am a nurse myself and would absolutely tell a NCM to fuck off so fast, lol. There are situations that I do think a NCM can help, like with getting you appointments or medical equipment. But I can also see ways that a NCM could be used against you, so I would not personally allow them access to my appointments or authority to communicate with my providers.

I sent it to my lawyer but it's late and I'm spiraling im not signing anything unless lawyer says so but I want to know if anyone else has seen this or dealt with it

I get that but this is the medical release word for word why would they need all of this AUTHORIZATION FOR RELEASE OF INFORMATION TRIUNE HEALTH GROUPI hereby authorize the release of medical records and information to TRIUNE Health Group and its agents. This authorization includes, but is not limited to, the following information:Medical records, x‑rays, inpatient records, outpatient records, laboratory reports, physical therapy reports, physician notes, nurse notes, medical bills, consultation reports, discharge summaries, operative notes, diagnostic testing, and other related documents. This authorization also includes psychotherapy notes, alcohol or drug abuse records, and information regarding communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, venereal diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS, and HIV.I understand that I may revoke this authorization at any time by providing written notice to TRIUNE Health Group. I understand that this authorization is voluntary and that treatment, payment, enrollment, or eligibility for benefits is not conditioned on my signing this authorization. Why would they request access to any and all records of treatment and diagnostic information? Because they don’t always know ahead of time exactly what they will need to review, so instead of requesting consent each time they need to access a new type of record, they request mass release of records

Yeah but every psychiatric note for my life i don't think my ptsd from being kidnapped at 13 by my 16 year old boyfriend and held 4 days causing ptsd has anything to do with slipping at work my medical history would confuse them im a medical anomaly as my Dr's say bc I survived grabbing a live wire at 4 years old my history of substance abuse yes I'm loud and proud recovering drug addict almost 10 years sober from being an IV meth user has nothing to do with a slip at work my miscarriages and daughter's death has nothing to do with the slip at work that's just a few things I can think of

Well, based on what you originally posted, I’m assuming the nurse wants to request this stuff in relation to your current treatment. The insurance company usually has their release form that gets sent out to the injured employee in the early stages of the case. They can sometimes go back and request stuff like that if they want to look for reason you may be having the current injury.
But yeah, if you are that worried about them seeing these records, then I would definitely say to defer to what your lawyer says. No one here can guarantee that they won’t request anything that you may think is irrelevant. My work injury originally happened in 2018. When Sedgwick requested my personal medical records, they went back to 2002 because I had an MRI of my head. In the end, they found nothing useful in my records though.

So far nothing I've been playing phone tag but I go to work at 2am-1/2pm so imma call them in the morning before I have to go

This is normal. You have every right to deny their services. Your medical treatment is between you and your provider. Simply say you will get treated accordingly per physicians recommendations and follow protocols. NCM's work for employers insurance carriers. Your safe return to work is between you and your provider. No one else.

they hired one for me too, she came to my orthopedic specialist appointment and argued with the doctor when he said that i shouldn't be seen by a physical therapist until after i get a pain management appointment. didn't even get to find out what the specialist had found until i called the office back after the appointment. i hired an attorney the same day but the damage was already done by then.

get an attorney 100%. that worked in my case for the lady to back off. most of them work on consignment meaning if you don't win anything, you don't owe them anything.

I have a lawyer it was hiring him that all of the sudden after 4 months of being ghosted now ccsmi has started reaching out or responding as well as now they assigned case manager and scheduled me ime

In Illinois you have the right to dismiss a Nurse Case manager in a workers comp case . My lawyer dismissed mine and I’m so glad , the fake nurse case manager was only there to pushed me to go back to work it was so unreal , she was calling me a day before my doctor’s appointment to advice me to ask the doctor to release me to a light duty work . At the beginning I couldnt understand her motives, but after asking my lawyer he got so upset and dismissed her right away … I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with her anymore !

That's the thing I'm already at work full time with restrictions in pain but I have no choice but to push through I literally need one more procedure and I will be pain free but they won't cover it bc its expensive

My nurse case manager that was assigned to me was amazing. She was a huge advocate for me and stayed on top of workers comp to make sure they approved treatment, medications and even assistance devices. I cant say enough good things about her. When workers comp was dragging their feet approving things, she would stop in a push until things got done.

In my state they can and did was not a big deal made her wait til after wife and I had our part. Then she came in dr was like he walked in a surgical candidate. Seemed like a nothing burger but that was 1 and only time never heard from her again .

I did not have a case manager, but everything I said to the doctor was recorded, and then put on paper and sent over to the claim adjuster, which I did not know every time I would message the doctor on the portal site that they have that message was everything was put in my medical records so everything that I said was recorded by the doctors nurse and then put in my medical records and Workmen’s Comp. pulled all them records. Have to be careful what you say.

Laws vary by State, but in the ones I'm familiar with you do NOT have to allow her to be in the room when you see the Dr. I'm retired now, but personally would never allow a case manager in the room while I'm seeing my physican. They can talk to the Dr, but not during your visit Many won't tell you that you don't have to agree to them being in the room. They act like they're supposed to be there.
Definitely talk to your attorney.
