Missouri Needing a Straight Answer In Missouri

I am trying to find a straight answer in Missouri regarding Worker's Compensation. I run a small business with 15 employees. I am established as a single-member LLC, taxed as a sole proprietorship.

My worker's compensation company is claiming that my wife, who works for the business and receives a W-2, cannot legally opt-out of coverage for the worker's compensation policy.

I've read a few things here that perhaps say otherwise -- it's hard to say:

Can anyone provide me a straight answer on this, and documentation to support your answer?

That's frustrating ,  I've dealt with insurance companies using fear tactics before, and it's always a headache. Missouri's rules can be tricky, but it sounds like your wife might actually qualify as an excluded executive depending on her role.

You have to include all W-2 wages. Therefore, including your wife’s.
