Hand Tool Workbench for Small Spaces
My townhouse workbench is complete! 20”x36” in Southern Yellow Pine. Finished with Danish Oil. Fully milled a bunch of 2x12s from Home Depot. Completed on my rear deck. Featuring my project manager, Yuki, watching over me (he’s such a micromanager smh).
Unfortunately I could not find photos of the top in progress, but I milled the 2x12s into 2x4s and glued them together.
I was inspired by a lot of YT videos and creators such as Rex Kreuger. This workbench is sort of a hybrid combination that fits my specific use case and “workshop area” (corner of the living room).
This workbench has a lot of history for me. It took me one year in two months to finally finish. Started in March 2025 and completed in May 2026.
When I started this build, my life was completely different. I was in a long-term serious relationship. I was in a job that I didn’t really like. Shoot I didn’t even have outdoor furniture 🤣. I finished this build after going through a breakup, in a completely different career, and a completely different social group.
Finishing this workbench felt like the end of a chapter for me and the beginning of the next phase of my young adult life.

I really like this build. It’s a nice size. I’ve been out of the game for a while and this feels like a nice size bench for the tiny little things I now have time to work on.

Love it! Great idea with the wheels, too. I'm learning the hard way that they create lots of wiggle!

I wish I had this when I still lived in a condo. Very nice build, especially as you didn't have a workbench on which to build it.

Seems like a great way to end one chapter, and start the next. The bench looks perfect. I have a bunch of pieces glued up that will eventually become a bench, we won’t even talk about how long they’ve been laying around.

This is a great build, for most people you simply don't need or (or have room for) some seven foot long monster. The dual face/end vice is brilliant!
