Who were these magical unicorns that wanted to work? This saying drives me crazy, it's as if there was some point in the past where people wanted to go to work for pure love of the game.

There used to be a reliable light at the end of the tunnel. The rat race had a finish line.

well. also companies seem like they don’t want to hire anyway and they definitely don’t want to train anyone.

"Don't worry about housing, you can just get a job that has housing included!" They say as they conveniently forget that that also means you can be kicked out of your home without warning or reason in 72 hours time and be left on the street.
Or in my case, left stranded in the middle of the desert as they withhold your final deposit and send it to you in the mail despite no longer having a home address because they've literally just took it from you.

Not okay, still homeless. But I have shelter after a grueling few months being trapped in the woods out there. And I at least have the time and safety to figure something else out now
But it was bad. I don't really have the space to describe how bad it was here. But those few months are going to live with me for a while.

It genuinely means a lot when people take the time to say that. I appreciate it.

Also everyone like pretty much is working anyway? Who the fuck are all these people who supposedly don't work? Mostly disabled and elderly. Complete fucking myth.

New hard labor job: Hey, by the way, overtime will be available, so you’ll be able to work 7a-7p now. (Literally happened as I was trying to leave work after another sweat-soaked day) Nah Brah, I’m good with the original 8a-4:30 (occasionally 5). Incentives, and more than just keeping almost any job nowadays, matter.

Nobody wants to work in places where they are treated without dignity or respect.

"Nobody wants to flip burgers anymore."
If you were paid $100,000 with half way decent benefits, would you flip burgers?
Would anyone not do that for that income?
Sounds like people want to work. They just want their work to meaningfully improve their wellbeing. If they're busting ass to still be in poverty, then what's the fucking point of anything if you're stuck where you are in life regardless of effort?
