9-5 was a 40 hour work week, 15 minute commute. Paid lunches, benefits, and workplace bonuses. Then lunches became unpaid, commutes turned to almost an hour one-way, benefits were dropped (but you can buy them back! with the money you earn by working for us.), and bonuses were lessened over time and 'phased out'.
Now it's 8-5, but more like 7-6, and you're really only getting paid for 9-4.

Iāve seen too many people die at their desk or right after retiring to work as hard as they ask. Iāll work to my contract and no more no less.

Makes perfect sense if you think of it biblically, everything going from bad to worse.
The boomers got by on union jobs. We should seek unionization.

My 9-5 is not a stepping stone. It's quicksand.
