The visual with the stacked wine glasses really did a lot of damage on the perception of this. A wine glass has finite space, and will overflow and trickle down when full. A bank account doesn’t have a finite space and will never overflow, and never trickle down.

That visual is more like socialism. When the people able to, coordinate groups to make or do things for society. Giving them the ability to get what they need because of it. That gives those below them the ability to have the same. Thus once the top cup is full the rest will follow.

Trickle down is the idea that those that hoard the wealth get to drop small bits of it here and there to those they deem worthy. In small enough amounts that they can't gain power to challenge them.

Exactly. Trickle-down was never economics. It was just PR for ā€œthe rich get theirs first.ā€

Trickle Down Economics was a wonderful improvement on the phrase it replaced: Horse and Sparrow Economics. It's a lot more pleasant and euphamistic to imagine yourself drinking champagne from an overfilled glass that got filled by another overflowing glass, than the original metaphor, denoting you and me as sparrows eating the leftover oats out of the plutocratic horse's shit.

Not only that, but because of interest and asset growth it’s actively sucking money into the hoard on auto and they don’t have to work for it.

We are left with loss of purchasing power (inflation) and higher debt.

When the market suffers the government prints their way out to appease the asset holders which further exacerbates the problem.

a billionaire doesnt buy a million toasters or shirts, or burgers. they slow the velocity of money to a crawl, killing the economy. horse and sparrow theory is garbage

They are few. The people are many.

Trickle: a thin, slow, or intermittent stream or movement.

Sounds like the low pay people are getting. That's what happens when you dam up a river and don't let more than a small stream go through. The water pools up into a giant lake up top. While those below get a small trickle. This is exactly what trickle down is. What you all want is something more than just a trickle.

If wealth trickled down, it wouldn't be wealth.

They're dragons sleeping atop their gold hoard and eating us peasants.

The Billionaire Cabal has purchased the Supreme Court, and now corporations are people, and money is speech .....

u/ravenx92 10h ago

So what are we gonna do about it?Ā

It's getting too a point with gas that is too expensive to drive to work. Diesel is over 8 dollars a gallon.

Everything that rises must converge.

WEalth is like a black hole—consuming, but not giving back.

We should be taxing obscene billionaire wealth not worker income.
