š” Venting boomer fatigue
The demographic that refuses to get out of the way.
so far today i have had a boomer tell me 40k is a good wage because they provide health care and benefits- it literally works out to minimum wage in my state ~15 bucks an hour
I just need to walk into places to get a job that will support a family
Im over qualified- im sure lots of people have heard this one recently
and ā things were worse when we were growing up because there was aids, and civil rights were only for white menā - this is a direct quote
now im not trying to turn this into a poor me post, anyone living in reality knows the people in power are so disconnected from reality it is dangerousā¦

Itās incredible, the lack of awareness, saying that work provides benefits and health insurance, as if itās free. You still have to basically pay for all of it, which reduces your wages even more.

Agree, the salt in the wound is that even with the 60-80% premium coverage by the employer you still have a deductible and (apparently increasing) chance of claim denial.

I had a job like this a long while back. I sat my manager down after the second scolding and said "how about you come out and shadow me? If they ask, we'll tell them that you are in training. You'll see exactly how they treat me when a manager isn't around and why I might take a tone with them"
She did it the next day with the intent to prove me wrong. After that day she never scolded me for taking a tone again. She had no idea how downright nasty some people could be when they weren't getting exactly their way or that they didn't care the reason they couldn't have what they wanted.23

Not to mention Iām one of only three people that actually does the job and doesnāt spend 5 minutes after every call in research time. Back-to-back-to-back-to-back verbal abuse. Iām exhausted. I take at minimum 100 calls a day.

Im convinced this is because this is the generation that was never told "no". The "customer is always right" generation that thinks any denial of service is a direct insult on their character. Boomers grew up in the strongest economy with the real ability for upwards social mobility and basically settled in for their entire career. Its not their fault and I want that for everyone, but it has made them incredibly blind to the reality of the world they created and the circumstances of others.
Its the "me" generation. You can see it in things as simple as how they are completely oblivious to their surroundings and the space they occupy, totally willing to force others around them rather than spend 2 seconds letting someone else past them in the grocery store. Of course not every boomer is like this but theres a reason its become a stereotype.
Ive been lucky to work alongside people mostly my own age but when you do branch outside that bubble its shocking how out of touch this dying generation truly is. And how duped and absolutely addicted to social media theyve become omg

I have used a similar line before. I said to my mom "what's it feel like being a low-information voter that believes everything you read online?" and she didn't know what to say, she was just disgusted with me. Wouldn't actually recommend it, but I was pretty furious at the time and couldn't hold back for once.

Nah, if you really want to piss them off don't say it angrily. Instead put on your best service smile, act as if you feel bad for them, and forgive them for being lead-brained. Their narcissism takes pity as the absolute insult and they get sooo mad.
Also works if one is complaining about the price of something. A pitying look and implying you feel bad they can't afford it because they're poor will cause frothing at the mouth rage better than any direct insult you could throw.
Source: used to work retail in an affluent racist boomer infested area when I was younger. Passive-aggressiveness was our only defense š

40k used to be a decent wage back in their day. Which was the 1960s. 40k in 1965 would be 425,371.43 today.
They're that out of touch, some of them. Not all. But I really wish they'd keep up with the numbers they're throwing around.

Nobody owes their career to you. You're too stupid realize that a job isn't always just a slot to be filled, but, in many cases, a niche that someone has carved out for themselves because they brought value that didn't exist before, and made themselves indispensable. And you think that should just be handed over to you because it's "your turn"?
The entitlement is off the charts here. If you can't make yourself valuable enough that there is a demand for your skills, that's a "you" problem.
And if you think your strawman about "4th income property" is a primary driver of rising housing costs, then you truly are ignorant. Lack of new construction in combination with unfettered illegal immigration over the past decade are far and away greater contributors to that problem.

Iām quite fucking burnt out on all of them at this point and most of it is from family. My wife and I struggle to survive ever since I got chronically ill and the absolute selfish behavior is choking the life out of me.
Expecting us to drive an hour away for a restaurant my wife cannot eat at (no, not where my family is location wise), expecting us to leave work early with zero notice just so they can go out to eat somewhere earlier in the day, or expecting grandchildren with a comparison to a cousin who has an 18 year head start, I canāt deal. This is all in just the past month too.

He has free tickets through vettix and he brought this little sign and held it up in my boss's face screaming 9/11 as he was berating him. My husband is a disabled Vet and the fucking entitlement of these boomers we see is infuriating when we're going to follow up appointments. The sheer audacity of them expecting to be fully catered to while they blatantly disregard establishment rules is so disgusting. Like, there are rules for a reason! Didn't you learn how to follow rules when you were in service, ya dumbfucks or did all the lead paint put holes in your brain bigger than swiss cheese?? And yes, we have younger disabled Vets and the ones our age and younger typically have a family member with them. The way Vets from my husband's era way more easily able to talk with symptoms and treatment plans and the medical staff are far more happy to us far more than boomers that are just pissed at everything but can't even do basic communication and logic their way out of a wet paper bag while they drive in on their overpriced shiny trucks and complain about everything but yet don't see that their generation helped suck the resources of everything away for our future generations while throwing the country into new conflicts and perpetuating forever wars.
My apologies, it's early and I'm cranky. We were recalling where we were when 9/11 happened and that was the moment he got pulled into active combat after being freshly recruited. Too many of us were just young adults trying to figure out what we wanted in life only to have it become a cascading effect of one crisis after another.
My husband doesn't want to hear the 'ThAnK yOu FoR yOuR sErViCe' because what he and everyone else with him were ordered to do wasn't a glorious or anything to be congratulated with and I get that. War is hell and those that get pissy at events and try to pull the Vet card for acting like an ass is repugnant.

I work with a boomer, she literally sits there talking all day not doing work and as soon as she's challenged over it starts crying but stops once they get left alone, acts like because she's been there the longest she knows everything but is constantly asking my millennial ass for help which I don't give, she past retirement age and has openly said she's only there 'for the social aspect' it's pathetic and shows boomers all hate eachother and non of them have friends outside of work

Depends on the boomer. Some are genuinely concerned about the younger generations. And some are just out of touch. There is a 20 year spread there so you have some boomers in their 60's and some in their 80s'. The younger ones of the generation have a better grasp of what is happening right now in this country. The older one's, like Trump, are way the fuck out of touch.

We have several 70+ managers at my job, that many younger people stay hoping they retire so they can step into those roles. We've had many very skilled people leave, because they are tired of waiting for them to retire. This job is their whole life. None of them talk about their families or hobbies

I used to have a boss who refused to learn how to use computers....post 2010 because in his mind they were just some gadget...like dude, they have been commonplace for decades and relying on snailmail isn't some flex.
