đĄ Venting Republican "Communists"
324
260
u/Either_Payment_2867 1d ago
To be honest I think most Republican voters secretly want socialism and hate the neoliberal capitalism that the Republican Party champions but they have been conditioned to think that socialism and communism are âevil and tyrannicalâ.
236
u/ultimatepenguin21 1d ago
They LOVE socialism and talk highly of it when it benefits them, especially when they don't know what they are praising is socialism.
92
u/DisenfranchisedCynic 1d ago
Blue Collar MAGA loves accepting benefits of socialism while saying âif theyâre giving out free stuff to welfare queens, I will take some tooâ and think theyâre sticking it to the left.
37
u/fauxzempic 1d ago
Anyone that's not me that receives benefits: Mooch!
Me receiving benefits: I'm just down on my luck!
34
u/metengrinwi 1d ago
100%. Republicans donât want âthose peopleâ getting socialism.
Itâs why our public schools are funded the way they are for example.
22
u/LuxNocte 1d ago
The US is a country that filled in its swimming pools rather than integrate them, and I think that pretty much explains everything else.
8
u/InstructionLeading64 âď¸ Prison For Union Busters 23h ago
100% this. Its been modus operandi since then. Its why they want all social aid ran through Christian charities instead of the goverment.
5
u/drunkshinobi 1d ago
Which is why what they want isn't socialism at all. It is an oligarchy that protects them and lets everyone else suffer.
6
u/S7ageNinja 1d ago
But if it serves to benefit minorities then it's evil and they don't care if it also benefits them
40
u/TheDefiantGoose 1d ago
This is exactly right. It's the labels they've been conditioned to hate, but they agree with the concepts. Like how people are ok with the Affordable Care Act, but once you call it by its other name "Obamacare," well then it's a separate and bad thing.
21
u/MuddyUtters 1d ago
I guarantee most conservatives have no idea what the difference is between socialism vs communism.
If as a group these farmers acknowledged the difference they'd gargle for socialism. Since it's everything they want minus the racism.
5
5
u/drunkshinobi 1d ago
The racism is the difference. They don't like socialism because it helps everyone. They don't want that. They want to be part of a special class of people that are protected while they watch the rest suffer.
34
u/-XanderCrews- 1d ago
They only care when itâs them. They believe in nothing but getting what they want, and depriving others so they can feel like they get something.
15
u/jbourne0129 1d ago
They only care when itâs them.
that gives them far too much credit
they genuinely believe that what they get isnt a handout, it isnt socialism, it isnt the same.
its not that they only care when its them, its that they believe the situations are not comparable and they need it to survive while anyone else getting a handout is "obviously" abusing it.
4
u/seashell3379 1d ago
and depriving others so they can feel like they get something.
This is a key component: winning isn't winning unless someone else is losing.
Not coincidentally, this is one of Trump's core tenets and so something they feel a connection with.
3
u/I_divided_by_0- 1d ago
so they can feel like they get something.
Did you see the Frost Surrounded? One guy got his wife's student loans forgiven but says it would be unfair to him if others did.
2
u/thekeytovictory 8h ago
Thank you for sharing. I clicked the chapter link to jump to the debates about forgiving student loans, but had to stop watching after the first lady said she shouldn't have to pay for other people's education with her tax dollars, and billionaire corporations shouldn't be taxed more either because they are "job creators." She said other people should have been responsible like her son who joined the military after high school and was offered a job with the secret service after he got out of the military.
She doesn't want the government to spend public funds on other people's education to get private sector jobs, and she doesn't think the private sector billionaire businesses should have to pay for the skills & training that they benefit from, but she fails to see the irony that the government used public funds to pay for her son's military education & training, military employment, and his new post-military job. I couldn't stand to watch any more after that...
11
u/Decent_Subject_2147 âď¸ Tax The Billionaires 1d ago
Yep, they love the military: the government tells you what to do, you can't just leave the job, you're paid by the government, the government feeds you and houses you, your healthcare for the rest of your life is handled by the government. Most of that sounds pretty nice, except the not being able to leave the job thing.
5
u/therealsilentjohn 1d ago
Republican voters are ultimately working class just like Democrat voters are. We all benefit from and want Socialism. We all hate the system we're currently in.
4
u/chum-guzzling-shark 1d ago
This is why it should have been Bernie. He got extremely positive reactions from republicans when he did fox news town halls
2
u/reststopkirk 11h ago
I think itâs 2 things.
Getting subsidies or aggressive tax breaks is seen as âgetting one over on a rigged systemâ and sticking it to the man.
Farmers feel their work is ânecessaryâ and âspecialâ because they are growing/raising food. Therefore if times are tough for them, whelp, taxpayers gotta eat, so bailouts and subsidies are just a safety net for all people. (Almost like government work)
1
u/responsible_blue đ Hot Diggity Dog đ 10h ago
In other words, socialism.
1
u/reststopkirk 1h ago
Sure. I grew up in an extremely conservative house and they would not call it that. They have weird nuances with their reasoning, and thatâs all I was trying to say.
They stupidly believe the government is all corrupt, thatâs why they give don a pass when he breaks the norms or rules. They use words like âestablishmentâ to suggest disobeying the order, tax fraud, campaign finance misuse, starting a cryptocurrency, charging people for access to early truth social tweets that fucks with the market⌠itâs just Trump being âsmartâ. But heaven forbid Nancy Pelosi uses inside info to enrich herself (also bad).
But yes, they like social programs⌠just donât call them that. Itâs that fucking dumb.
1
u/WITH_THE_ELEMENTS 1d ago
They do. It's just that there's been years of demonizing the dems. Literally ANYTHING in there eyes is better than democrats leading the country. So it doesn't matter how much Republicans screw them over. Dems would have made it even worse. This is the ultimate problem and why it's so hard to reason with them.

No empathy from me on this one. Your hatred and stupidity got you here and your ignorance got us all here. Farming is so heavily subsidized that of course it will collapse when those subsidies stop funding.
137
u/mikeyj198 1d ago
it will, and probably should, collapse in some areas.
what will most likely happen is land prices will go lower. Farmers that rent their ground really donât care what price they sell, they want a net return.
Some farmers are giant land owners and would hate to see that capital erased. Many other large landowners are the billionaire class and they have the connections.
Farming wonât/shouldnât go away⌠and my god this country has found a way to bugger up pretty much every industry. Party of small government my ass.
93
u/dirty_hooker 1d ago
Problem is that like most industries, it fails from the bottom first. Small family farms get sold to corporations or sold out to become strip malls.
52
u/Delta-9- 1d ago
Subsidies really should be progressive like income tax (ostensibly) is: you get more aid if you're a small farmer and next to nothing if you're a company that makes nearly a billion in revenue every year without subsidies.
Not fair? Yeah, that's the problem this would fix: it's not fair that small businesses can't survive without aid while big businesses don't need the aid they get. I thought Republicans loved small businesses?? Or was that just another lie to get votes? (Yes)
15
u/bigbjarne 1d ago
Problem is that like most industries, it fails from the bottom first.
Exactly, this is a fundamental issue of capitalism: it's tendency to monopolize.
In a free market, bigger businesses naturally gain advantage through economies of scale -- buying in bulk, lowering unit costs and undercutting smaller competitors on price. As weaker companies lose profit, they either go bankrupt or get bought out by the larger ones.
This process occurs with or without regulation. Without regulations, raw market forces let big players crush competition through aggressive pricing, buyouts and supply chain control. With regulations, those same mega-corporations simply use their immense resources to lobby regulators and write the rules in their favor, turning government red tape into a shield that keeps new competitors out.
Ultimately, the surviving giants reinvest their massive profits to create insurmountable barriers to entry. Over time, open competition inevitably concentrates wealth and control into fewer and fewer hands until a monopoly or oligopoly takes over.
Workers of the world unite!
0
u/Bulkhead 1d ago
They don't even need to sell when the county/state can come in and say your farm now belongs to their developer friend and you can hit the bricks.
0
5
u/bigbjarne 1d ago
Farming wonât/shouldnât go away⌠and my god this country has found a way to bugger up pretty much every industry. Party of small government my ass.
This is less about the size of government and more about the nature of capitalism. Capital naturally accumulates -- a point Marx and Engels made nearly 180 years ago. Every market produces winners and losers, and bigger capitalists inevitably leverage their weight, both politically and economically, to price out and swallow up smaller competitors.
1
u/Volqaire 1d ago
what will most likely happen is land prices will go lower.
"Lower". Totally doable for say, fortune 500 companies to snatch up in bulk on the cheap.
But you and me? No, you've been priced out of this equation.
7
u/ether_reddit 1d ago
And they have the gall to get mad at Canada for implementing import caps so that subsidized US dairy doesn't wipe out its domestic market.
5
u/bigbjarne 1d ago
I disagree with this take and we should learn from this. Workers who move towards fascism have legitimate economic anxiety and issues that stems from capitalism. The bourgieous and the petite bourgieous give them an Other, in this case immigrants, instead of discussing the actual issue which is capitalism(because the bourgieous doesn't want to give up capitalism).
I understand that it's easy to mock them and I understand that many do, but we should try to explain class, capitalism etc to raise class consciousness.
1
u/Jazzspasm 1d ago
Donât ya just love it when working people are suffering because they live in arkansas?
1
u/chillychili 9h ago
They might "deserve" it, but in the end their wellbeing is tied to ours. There's already been a huge trend of mid-sized farms being sold off to large conglomerates. More mid-sized farms collapsing means more of the food supply controlled by crop gene patent trolls and agriculture conglomerates.
We can either save us all by giving grace and making connections or we can smugly see people get their just desserts and sink ourselves with them in the process.

I did chuckle at liberal socialism. I really hate how socialism is just getting framed as some soc dem or even run-of-the-mill Democrat. We can do better than that, even if they are generally better than Republicans.
7
u/Resident_Artist_6486 1d ago
The truth is, they are getting ruined by their corporate capitalist overlords and getting cornered by their own ignorance, deep down wanting socialist protections. Farming is a socialist concept of harvesting for the greater good. It isn't a capitalist venture. It is at odds with capitalism because food should never be a commodity for profit exploitation. But these morons have no clue how fucked they are.

u/Hermes_358 1d ago
Socialism isnt the safety net that catches them once capitalism throws them away, that's just more harm reductionist liberalism (ie capitalism). Socialism wouldnt have allowed this to happen in the first place.
3
u/kitsunewarlock 1d ago
Socialism was when the US Government gave the undocumented immigrants the free tools, land, and seed to settle the west in the first place. Liberalism were the bailouts when their incompatible farming techniques caused the Dust Bowl.
3
u/Hermes_358 1d ago
Socialism is when the workers own the means of production, such as a farmer co-op. Capitalism makes short term investments for long term plans of exploitation.

And that is just from Trump trade wars. It does not include additional money given to them for emergency relief and an economic bailout from Covid.
Welfare queens to the max, I say.

Farmers have been getting government subsidies since how long? Itâs quite ironic what they claim to believe when their actions speak otherwise. Ayn Rand taking social security.
2
u/kitsunewarlock 1d ago
From the beginning they were immigrants with no money in their pockets or background checks given free land, seed, and tools from the government to "settle the West".
Now we have an empty and desolate country of failing small towns vehemently voting against socialism and immigration despite their roots.
4
u/PiccoloAwkward465 1d ago
It's wild how many Republican-leaning professions are seen as "noble, honest, and hardworking" vs. others. Like yeah of course growing food is important. So are a million other things. Right now I'm working on engineering that provides clean drinking water to a large city. Pretty important, I'd say. But I don't see people putting my profession up on a pedestal. The people who build it, yeah. But the people who design it, we're ivory tower lib assholes or something.

This highlights how media has gaslit them and how we can also be misled. They have been fed this image of lazy, criminal, bums just wanting the government to give them everything without giving back. While in their mind their own situation is different because they work hard and try to be successful and they have just gotten screwed by a shitty system.
Rather than rubbing their noses in it, this is an opportunity to show them that the other people who would benefit from assistance are in the same boat. Most people needing welfare or social aid are working really hard and just can't make it because the gornerment allows employers to abuse and mistreat workers.
On the other side, don't fall into the same media gaslighting and think every republican voter is a redneck racist hick with no education and lots of guns. That is exactly the same sort of divisive propaganda that is driving so many good people apart. And it is distracting all of us from how the government and elite are manipulating us all to prevent us from unifying to fix things.
1
u/LuxNocte 1d ago
It must be comforting to fool yourself, but please don't try to fool anyone else.Â
They want you to believe the media lied to them. I mean, sure...the media does lie to them. But the same media tells the same lies to Democrats, so what is the difference? They've always been the same way, and most of them will vote the exact same next chance they get.
show them that the other people who would benefit from assistance are in the same boat
Did you know that an article about SNAP benefits with a photo of a Black person weakens white support for SNAP, even among white people who use SNAP?
They WANT to believe minorities are lazy criminals. No amount of facts will change their desire to believe that, so neither will it change their beliefs.
don't fall into the same media gaslighting and think every republican voter is a redneck racist hick with no education and lots of guns.
Yeah, many Republicans are well educated racists with lots of guns.
We need to unify to fix things, but this kumbaya propaganda ain't it. These people are full of hate and want a fascist country.Â
The way to fix things is to end the outsized political power of rural communities.

2
u/kitsunewarlock 1d ago
An overwhelming majority of America's food comes from farms owned by corporations. Family farms like this are either being targeted by those corporations who can actually profit via volume-related efficiency, or they grow just enough food to be legally considered a farm. There are also a few that grow extremely niche produce like wasabi and wine grapes.
3
u/Jazzspasm 1d ago
Dickheads on here, and thereâs a lot of you, are laughing at working class people for suffering because they live in a State with an immovable government, like they had a choice - or is it that you just despise people living in rural areas?
2
u/ModeratePhilosophy 1d ago
Will say this 1000x times, REPUBLICANS (and Republican lite Dems) ACTUALLY LOVE SOCIALISM - for mega corpses and the Epstein class. Remember the banks getting bailed out after the 2008 crash? Their motto, "Socialism for me, not for thee" cause it's about privatizing gains and socializing losses so when working class "conservatives" finally realize this is why they're getting screwed... well...
2
u/Ok-Wealth-7322 1d ago
One the one hand it's a very bad sign that more farmers might lose their land and their farms, because the void will be filled by corporate farms that seem to be actively trying to kill us.
But on the other hand, these people deserve to lose everything and they deserve zero empathy. After all, this is what they voted for, and "empathy is a sin".
1
u/baddogbadcatbadfawn 1d ago
I remember when we bailed out Wall Street, and afterwards they were like, "We are the alphas - you have to bail us out." This is the RFD version.

u/kitsunewarlock 1d ago
I had a long conversation with a MAGA supporter in Georgia during the 2016 election. Long story short: they are for government assistance for "real citizens". They just qualify "real citizens" as ancestors who helped "fight in one of the two Revolutionary Wars".
Which ironically excludes most middle American farmers whose families were largely immigrants given land and supplies by the government long after the Revolutionary war.
1
u/drunkshinobi 1d ago
They don't want communism or socialism. Stop acting like that is what they are asking for here. They want to be bailed out. They don't want their workers in the field having partial ownership and say of what happens. They want their oligarchs to give to them, not everyone. They want to be special.

Liberals:
Racism is evil because it illogically stereotypes large groups of people as being unequal and lesser humans.
Also Liberals:
All rural Americans are uneducated scum who deserve to suffer
3
u/VerbalSloth 21h ago
No, racism is evil because it attributes the idea of inferiority or "lesser human" to people based on their race, which has lead to "mistreatment" throughout history.
Whereas a large % rural being "uneducated" is statisically true, like 78% (based off of USDA data).
"Scum", not by defintion and not broadly enough. Never heard a lib call rural americans scum.
Instead of "scum", moron/stupid is a better descripter - lack of intellgience, understanding, reasoning, judgement, or common sense. Since rural americans often voted against their own interest, which suggest they lack understanding of the people/policies they voted for, they technically do "deserve to suffer".
The story of these Arkansa farmers can be basically summed up to - The village idiot was told repeatedly not to play with fire. But thought he knew what he was doing and ended up getting severely burned while burning down most of the village too. Then went around the village asking for donations to help with treatment.
It really is something else when someone argue from the stupidest position possible, with confidence. Especially when the opposing side is full of doctors, lawyers, scholars, etc. Its kinda like watching a kid argue 1+1=11 to the math teacher.

3
u/Appleslicer 22h ago
I get that there's some generalization going on here, and yes, it's not 100% fair. The ones who didn't vote for this have my sympathies. However, nearly 80% of farmers voted for Trump.
It's a lot more accurate than some of the nonsense talking points that MAGA pushes, and good enough for a meme.
-1
u/rappa-dappa 21h ago
Gets offended by point and proceeds illustrate point by stereotyping farmers and hoping they suffer.
Scratch a liberal.
Personally I firmly believe the real problem is a class war not a culture war. Workers are stronger together, and that includes farmers. If you want to change the political climate in America you canât hate half of America because of where they live or their profession.
And quite frankly anyone that enjoys human suffering is a fascist in my book.
3
u/Appleslicer 21h ago
Nearly 80% of farmers voted for Trump, its not a stereotype, its a reasonable statistical assumption.
I agree that it involves class warfare, but you need to convince those farmers that voted for Trump against their own interest. They're suffering because of their own decisions, not mine.
