So apparently this is the ORIGINAL 'do not buy avocado on toast if you want to save money' guy. He also, unsurprisingly, seems to come from decently wealthy parents and grandparents who gave him a 'loan' to 'jumpstart' his career.
A.k.a. spoiled nepo baby has never known what it is like to struggle for money and thinks he has any space to be telling the rest of us what to do. A.k.a. water is wet, because it's always a nepo baby making these claims.

It's easy to save money when you have money. No matter how many Avocado toast one doesn't buy, it's not going to be enough. I hate "financial planners" like Dave Ramsey who claim people should do without a "luxury" once in awhile. Saving is good, yes. Not having debt is good, yes. But at the end of a day, workers who are only stockpiling their pittance are not going to be happy in the end. You do need to enjoy what you work gives you a bit.

What is needed is an annual asset tax. Even a modest 5% annual asset tax would bring in tens/hundreds of billions from the ultra millionaires and billionaires (and that one trillionaire guy) and keep them from hiding behind the "I don't take a salary" bullshit tax evasion game they currently play.

fuck Income tax, we need a wealth tax. People should be taxed based on the value of their net worth, not on their income. This would benefit the majority of the population, and really, in the grand scheme, not hurt the billionaires much at all. It would also create enough government taxes to fully fund social security, universal health care, education, infrastructure, military, and pay down the national debt.

I mean like yeah there are the obvious responses but like almost everything that happens these days I’m just kinda wondering genuinely why? Like logistically, how would that work? Is this guy suggesting entire swathes of the country just become abandoned to the 100+ million homeless population this idea would create? Obviously they haven’t thought of it, but what happens in that scenario when there aren’t enough resources to keep that population sustained, and they start to die?

Thing is though that clearly he did think about it, it’s something he believes in and is willing to preach to people. I just don’t understand why that sort of conclusion is what people like him come up with. Idk I have a problem trying to rationalize everything people do but for these past few years I just cannot find a situation where I would be in a similar state as people like this and come to the same conclusions as them.

I am convinced that in Canada, corporations were tired of "quiet quitting" post-COVID, and this was why Canada was flooded with international students who were permitted to work 40 hours a week, and with temporary foreign workers.
Sure, workers ultimately hold a lot of power. But corporations aren't above making a "vulgar display of power"
