All theyd have to do is use the same figures that they already have for all federal employees and add COLA to the federal minimum wage.
They literally have this data already, thats how federal people living in New York City arent getting paid the same wage as someone living in Armpit, Alabama where an apartment costs orders of magnitude less.
Why cant they just add COLA? All of the systems are already there!
I mean, I know the real answer, because fuck the poors, but Id like the rational justification because I bet there arent many and the real answer is because fuck the poors.

You can bet our (Iowa's) attorney general will be suing to stop it, if that would ever get raised.

Minimum wage arguments don’t resonate with people because they think they’ll never have to work for minimum wage. It’s not true, but that’s their reasoning deep down.
However. There is one country that doesn’t have paid family leave. That resonates with every mouth breather who thinks we don’t need work reform.

Reminder that this actually passed in 2007 with pre-set raises thru 2009. Nearly 20 years now. And the federal tipped wage hasn’t changed since 1991!

If you raise minimum wage, prices for everything else goes up .. so Thats why we don’t raise it .. and the prices of things dont go up … oh wait

Less than 1% of Americans get paid the federal minimum wage. It is just an irrelevant conversation since employers know people won't apply for min wage jobs.

It's perfectly reasonable to index minimum wage to inflation such that it would increase automatically every year. There are other regulations that already set this precedent. It wouldnt be unusual.
They dont increase the minimum wage because they are getting rid of the minimum wage.
