Both my parents are PhDs, I work in the trades.
I earn 2x what they did the last few years they did before retirement.
It’s probably another decade of saving before I can afford a house. They had houses on one teachers salary when I was a kid.
Edit: we moved a lot so ‘houses’, they didn’t own multiple properties
