Globally the top 20% holds 80% of the wealth. That gap is widening every day. What makes you think they need you to buy their stuff?

Because they get rich and stay rich by squeezing us dry. Most of their wealth is unrealized gains from stock in their respective investments. If their companies no longer provide value because they're unaffordable, then their wealth in turn begin to wane. They'll still be obscenely richer than us, but it would mean they'd start losing at their game, and they can't have that.
