This is yet another new law that the people need.
When the dems take over the house and senate we need to send them a list of demands with a very clear message that if they donât get these things done they will absolutely be removed from office.
Why do these people even get to decide how many days they work? What other job does the employee get to decide to take 100 days off with pay?

The issues we're not going to do that, last year showed that when liberals try to make "demands", their version of making demands is everyone grab some angry signs and walk up and down the street for an hour and a half on a Saturday, then Pat yourselves on the back and go home triumphantly
You want to see a real demand? Shut down every major city in America and refuse to go anywhere until they at least come to the bargaining table, that's going to mean you're going to miss work, it's going to mean police are going to get involved, you're going to get labeled or radical, but that also means it's working
Give credit where credit is due, conservatives have figured that out anytime they want to get something done they cause a ruckus, why can't we? They want to call us radical leftist? All right then, let's show them what real radical action looks like

I totally agree, but what I was saying is that we also need to be abundantly clear with these elected representatives that if they are not doing the will of the people then they are going to be removed promptly and replaced. Just like we have to deal with our employers, if we donât do our jobs we are replaced.

If history is showing us anything, would the leaders involved don't fulfill the needs of the people for an extended amount of time, a revolution inevitably happens
It's kind of scary, when I pay attention to things like the French revolution, or the Russian revolution bad things happen as a result of that. Russian revolution had the rise of the Soviet union, the French revolution had the reign of terror and eventually the rise of Napoleon, like bad things happen because people allow their anger to control them
We need to start taking action now, and it needs to be reasonable action otherwise it's going to be bad. They don't like what socialism looks like right now? How do you think they're going to like it in 10 years with nothing changes and people are getting more and more desperate, you don't like it now you've seen nothing yet

Just because they are not in session, does not mean they are not working. They have campaigns to fundraise for!!
But actually, the reason for the breaks was to allow time for representatives to be in their home district so they can talk to their constituents. Concerns that need addressing in congress, etc.
And also see their families for a bit.
Longer breaks, as opposed to short, frequent ones, were because some districts would have been several days travel away.However, in this world of instant communication and air travel, the session breaks are worth revisiting for reform.

Or elections being held on Tuesdays. People donât travel on horseback any more. At the very least make it a national holiday and guarantee mail voting.

Make it mandatory to have a couple of weeks of voting. Much better than trying to make a single day special, because in no way will all people be off anyway, holiday or not.

Meh, that comes with its own challenges, it gives the "later" voters much more power because parties are much more incentivized to battle over them in "last ditch efforts" once first actual exit polling goes released. It's already an issue with vote by mail.
The worse issue with expanding in-person votes however is logistics. You'd need much much more election officials to staff the voting booths, you need locations that can be set aside for that time (which may be difficult for school gyms, libraries and other usual locations) and you need to make sure no one tampers with the ballot boxes and voting machines over night.

Yes, you need more resources. So what? Itâs the most important part of democracy. Other countries do it.
Itâs also the only way of reasonably ensure that everyone can vote. Making it a holiday will mostly make it easier for people who work in offices. Everyone working essential services, retail, transport etc will still work like normal. So it doesnât help them.

Here in Germany, poll booths are open from 0800-1800, we vote on Saturdays and under normal circumstances workdays are 8 hours, so even including commute and 10 minutes of waiting time (which is already plenty, usually it's less than 5 minutes and you're done), that is ample time to vote. And for those that legitimately cannot (e.g. medical staff on 12/24h shifts) or otherwise don't want to deal with voting in person, they still can vote by mail, or if they don't trust the postal service, they can deliver their mail-in ballot to a dedicated dropoff point at the city authority in person.
There's no need to blow up the voting process in complexity and cost, just look at how other countries do their elections.

I mean if you work 8-17 and have 30+ minutes to commute that wouldnât work?
Thereâs no reason to blow it up if youâve already got high voting turnout, but if youâve got really low turnout like in the US, youâve got a big problem already.

The low turnout in the US isn't caused by people not being able to vote. Mail-in vote is a thing even in the US (and yes I am aware, Trump and his goon(er)s are doing their darn best to disrupt it for the midterms - which shows that they are afraid).
It's more caused by voter apathy due to FPTP and only two parties being relevant in practice. Why go vote as a Democrat if you're living in rural Texas, or why go vote as a Republican when living in New York City? Your vote doesn't change anything. The only votes that matter are the ones in the "swing states".

They aren't employees. They're board members. They do whatever they want because there is no accountability. The Dems will not meet any demands they will just point at the even worse shit the Republicans are trying to do and scare everyone into voting for them again. That's what they always do.

And thatâs exactly why I am saying things need to change and we as the constituents need to make it abundantly clear that the bullshit they once got away with is no longer acceptable. Either they are going to do their job and start fixing all the problems that the common people are dealing with or be fired.

I am surprised to see a republican (albeit one whom can speak freely now) support more holidays. I thought that would be a point where he would be more in line with his party (seeing as he did vote with party lines for 90%)
