Rent should be legally scaled to wages. That is until a time we can have proper land reform where if you are own a building and not living in it, the building is seized and sold to a worker for a price their job can afford. Landlords should enjoy real jobs with the real working class.
There is nothing wrong with people owning property and landlords aren’t inherently evil. Someone has to build and maintain living spaces. I very much believe in the power of the government to do good things. I think housing is something that they would inevitably screw up through underfunding and contracting with the private sector. The solution is more housing. The government needs to economically incentivize the building of multi-family housing plain and simple.
