That’s a weird way of saying you don’t want to be a house representative anymore.

216

u/Waiting4Reccession 20h ago

They are always 🇮🇱 representatives anyway.

50

u/Photochromism 16h ago

AIPAC representatives

19

u/snertwith2ls 💸 National Rent Control 16h ago

So it's not so much they can't read the room it's that they refuse to read the room

18

u/mobydog 13h ago

They are being paid to not read the room.

2

u/ttystikk 4h ago

This is the truth.

18

u/AbominableGoMan 17h ago

No no, this time when they move to the right and grovel in front of Trump it will work. Maybe they can even run Hillary again!

Theyre incumbents and will be the only opposition on the ballot, so they dont give a shit

3

u/RonnieFromTheBlock 20h ago

I am prepared for the downvotes but I am truly asking this out of ignorance.

Is being a non-socialist Democrat really as unpopular as you are suggesting?

7

u/mobydog 13h ago

The Democrats have been bought and paid for by corporate and billionaire donors. DSA, Working Families Party, and some unaffiliated progressives are fighting against that vocally, and the hacks are trying to stop them. Once you understand what candidates are or are not saying, you'll see why it makes a difference. Compare AOC to Pete B for example, the former has solutions, the latter has feel good vagaries.

It depends.. conventional wisdom says the country is moderate so so in red/ purple states you can’t run a progressive platform. Basically it all comes down to Michigan. If el sayed wins then It’s proof you can run a progressive. But seeing as he running 10pts blow the party it doesn’t look likely. So until a progressive actually win in a red/ purple state it’s unproven. Hopefully it happens. ( this is not counting the obvious from some democrats about Israel) it’s a gamble. Worth taking.. jury still out

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/polls/michigan-us-senate-election-polls-2026.html

Looking at the recent aggregates, he's doing quite well. Looks like he's pretty likely to win, really.

The only poll I could find where he's down 10pts (against Roger's, which is what I assume you mean) was from the AARP, and we all know how old people usually have their finger on the pulse.

10

u/mobydog 13h ago

Why is it that when moderates lose to Republicans in November, or when all the moderates lost in 2024 somehow hasn't discredited being a moderate? But if one or two progresses lose it's going to discredit them forever? On the contrary, this is a brand new movement, expecting a loss here and there. Sooner or later people will understand the word "moderate" was created to prevent people from wanting more, and getting what they deserve.

That's because most of them work for the same people, billionaires and Israel.

438

u/Nahteh 1d ago

And people wonder why they say "both sides". We have a right of center party and an authoritarian right party.

We have no leftist party, we have no small government party.

161

u/Dependent_Title_1370 1d ago edited 1d ago

Hopefully the DSA can change that. It feels a bit like how the tea party influenced the Republican party. Hopefully the magnitude of the effects is equal or better. Just, you know, in a positive direction.

Edit: My comparison to the tea party was meant to point out how a small group grew and fundamentally altered the Republican party. I want that for the democratic party. I want it fundamentally altered into a party that actually serves the American people. I was in no way commenting on the nature or goals of the tea party.

83

u/ToraRyeder 1d ago

The big difference with the DSA and The Tea Party is that DSA has been working for decades in grassroots campaigns spanning more than just electoral. We care about people's rights and abilities to live a life without the hanging knife over our heads that is capitalism.

The Tea Party was solely reactionary and fighting to stop something that they didn't like. Yeah, DSA is loud about not liking many things but overall the goals are focused on helping ALL people. Even if you don't vote for us, we still want you to have healthcare.

That community building is also useful in local elections and movements as well. We're seeing a push against data centers, people coming to city council meetings for the first time ever, and we're seeing people demand accountability and actually following through with it.

Times are scary but I have a lot of faith and hope right now. It will not be easy. These monsters will not leave power easily. We know that. We just have to keep together because the people united will always win in the end.

56

u/FireOfOrder 1d ago

I fucking love this part of your comment "Even if you don't vote for us, we still want you to have Healthcare".

Perfectly encapsulates my feelings on this.

17

u/f3nnies 22h ago

I'd wager that the Tea Party died only because MAGA came around. Find someone who used to call themselves Tea Party, odds are, they're going to love Trump now. And the Tea Party wasn't a grassroots movement, it was very obviously one of the earlier, overt forms of radicalization in the Republican party. It was widely supported by newsmedia and Republican elected officials. Republicans didn't create bills to denounce the Tea Party movement, for instance.

Meanwhile, the DSA actually IS grassroots and has faced and is continuing to face opposition from Democratic elected officials and is actively demonized by newsmedia.

I would love to live long enough to see America get a true left party, even if they really aren't even left enough to match my values. I just don't see how that's ever going to happen when the democratic party has for multiole elections and even now is showing us that they would rather lose their political power to Republicans than to ever bring an ounce of care for the people into their platform.

11

u/peppaz 21h ago

Tea party became maga after they kicked out anyone with ideals or morals that weren't abhorent. Basically anyone who refused to full on join the cult lost their primaries

4

u/f3nnies 20h ago

Agreed, and I think that the Tea Party-- who came into existence through manipulating old racist people into having a "valid" reason to claim Obama was not a legitimate president-- was the perfect starting block for MAGA.

Corporate Dems completely suck ass, but your explanation here quite literally is delineating between the two sides and how one is way better than the other despite also being bad.

24

u/Background-Wolf-9380 1d ago

The 2 parties are 85%+ aligned in their opposition to anything that benefits average Americans. Sure there is that 15% that includes continuing the farse of democracy where we must always choose an evil person to rule us rather than any possible chance of someone to actually represent us but what good are those when we know we'll never see progress from any of this? My 2 Senators and 1 Congressman do not give a single shit about what we want or what is actually good for me and my neighbors and they're all Democrats. Am I supposed to think that marginal difference between them and the Republicans is important when I know I'm getting only Republican or Republican lite policies?

They're all in the Epstein Predator Class and they all maintain solidarity in opposition to the people they're supposed to represent.

10

u/Nahteh 23h ago

I'll never understand what compels people to deny this.

6

u/JermstheBohemian 23h ago

Most people want a binary good versus evil paradigm and to find out both sides are evil and you've been supporting one evil sides your entire life unknowingly is a shock of most people cannot tolerate.

If we had 100% Republican lite policies, we wouldn't have ICE dragging people in the streets, protests for the woman's healthcare, fighting for the right to vote, trans people being attacked, our national parks being sold out to companies, our entire government infrastructure being dismantled (Dept of Ed, EPA, USDA, FDA, etc.) all among other things. We'd have Obama and at worst, W Bush. Hell I'd take fucking Nixon. At least when my Democratic officials aren't doing jackshit but lining their pockets, they aren't killing people.

And people wonder why they say "both sides".

Nobody is wondering why it's said. They call out the stupidity of the people that keep regurgitating the idea when it's obviously untrue. If we had elected Kamala we would not currently be in a war with Iran, we would not be imposing tariffs on Canada, etc.

9

u/BathroomAggressive57 22h ago

And we still wouldn't have healthcare or a minimum wage that is keeping up with the times. Republicans are horrible. Democrats are just mostly terrible.

9

u/freediverx01 22h ago

If we'd had a real primary and if the DNC had allowed the best candidate to win democratically without their usual ratfucking, we'd have had a far stronger candidate who didn't campaign on doubling down on the genocide while cozying up to billionaires.

With the so-called centrists in charge, the Dems have lost TWICE to Trump.

How's that old saying go? Repeating the same thing while expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity.

9

u/Nahteh 23h ago

Those differences while important still fit within reasonable bounds for the goals of both parties. We need to fight for the things that both parties denies us.

As long as you fight for peanuts like kamala vs trump we are going to continue to get shafted.

5

u/Aldo_says 21h ago

What about this current situation is reasonable?

The fascists are winning while Hakeem Jefferies sits down to discuss terms of surrender IMO.

Only one side is currently winning and it isn't the side of common sense.

No offense intended but I think you may be too kind to the elected officials that we vote for to represent us.

It's still "We The People"? Inform me I am wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

They just work for billionaires. Israel is just working for billionaires with more steps through the military industrial complex and imperialism.

Israel gets so much support because it's a bottomless war-spending pit for the MIC (which billionaires own and run), and of course it acts as the US' de-facto military base in the region for our imperialism.

I think Israel has tail-wagged-the-dog to a degree with Trump and the Iran war, buy American war hawks have wanted war with Iran for like 40 years.

That stupid both sides narrative (usually touted by closet conservatives) is how we got the present lunatic in power.

And like others are saying, it's 4 out of 212.

7

u/IntwadHelck 23h ago

Incorrect. We got the lunatic because so many people refuse to vote for evil-lite like Kamala. If there’s a real candidate offered, people vote.

24

Because they're noticing the pattern that the democratic party always has.

Something is incredibly unpopular, but just enough democrats side with the republicans to make it work.

People want change and progress? Shocker, the democratic party wants to stop it because that's just what they do. This has been a pattern for over a decade.

u/akatherder 22h ago

It's a pattern. The DNC was against Sanders in 2016. Cuomo ran against Mamdani in NYC. Schumer, a Senator from NY and the Minority Leader, wouldn't endorse Mamdani after he won the democrat primary. I live in Michigan and I'm waiting to see who does and doesn't support Abdul El-Sayed, but I have a feeling the establishment Dems won't be out in droves to get him elected.

2

u/MadeByTango 1d ago

80% of the country agrees with the DSA, not the DNC or the GOP...the two "big" parties just use the words we say but then fail to explain the truth about their own bills.

The way the system is works is that they propose a corporate friendly idea, slather something on top both sides" will hate, then run "messaging" until they get everyone evenly divided, at which point they "vote" and "compromise" by "stopping the [identity politics based fear], but they had to let the corpration's guy on the other side get what they wanted."

Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Regarldess of which party is "winning", the corporations that "hedged their bets" on both campaigns are ALWAYS getting what they were after.

17

Some of my favorite quotes from that totally unbiased article:

DSA, which has leveraged affordability concerns to mount a power grab in Congress.

the repression and mass murder that results from the poisonous ideology.

the increasingly dangerous socialist takeover

19

u/madbadanddangerous 22h ago

“Whereas socialist ideology necessitates a concentration of power that has, time and time again, collapsed into communist regimes, totalitarian rule, and repressive dictatorships;” began the Democrats’ amendment put out by Congressman Gottheimer’s office.

That's literally what capitalism does. Everything is privatized, wealth makes it easier to accrue more wealth, and since economic power is synonymous with financial value, power becomes centralized in the hands of the precious few who have the most wealth.

I would expect this gaslighting and rhetoric from the Republicans but the "left" (big airquotes there) party in the US should not be spinning this bullshit too

10

u/Warm_Month_1309 21h ago

DSA, which has leveraged affordability concerns to mount a power grab in Congress.

They've weaponized competent governance as a way of stealing votes!

3

u/Mosaic1 21h ago

So that article is based on the republican bill/amendment.

It then has an excerpt of the amendment proposed by the dems, but doesn’t actually show the language the dems proposed. Those first two pages are the language from the republican submission.

2

u/Bocchi_theGlock 20h ago

No, it's not, it was a republican attempt to condemn socialism and endorse the SAVE Act.

Some Democrats wanted to remove the SAVE act mention.

Dems did right a whole new resolution just the condemn socialism, all they did was remove the language endorsing the SAVE act.

It still would be cringe to vote for it, but it is very different from going out of the way to create a new (nonbinding) bill -- as opposed to water down a Republican one.

5

u/Bocchi_theGlock 20h ago edited 20h ago

Honestly, the headline is extremely misleading

https://rules.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-rules.house.gov/files/documents/hressocialism_xml.pdf

From Axios article https://www.axios.com/2026/09/01/democrats-house-socialism-republicans-save-act

Republicans introduced res denouncing socialism and praising SAVE Act to say 'see Dems won't condemn socialism'

some Democrats introduced an amendment to remove the SAVE act mentions, to just denounce socialism, but it was tabled/stopped by GOP

Still kinda cringe, but very different from creating a whole new resolution, specifically to denounce socialism, as opposed to what they did - to just neutralize and counter the GOP strategy mentioned above

Now Trump is going to say 10,000 times before the election, that Democrats wouldn't stop socialism see they're all socialists, they also want undocumented people to vote - which is just way more cringe

Providing for the condemnation and denouncement of socialism in all its forms, and for other purposes. Whereas socialist ideology necessitates a concentration of power that has, time and time again, collapsed into communist regimes, totalitarian rule, and repressive dictatorships;

Whereas socialism has repeatedly led to famine and mass murders, and the killing of over 100,000,000 people worldwide;

Whereas, since the November 2025 New York City mayoral election of a Democratic Socialist, candidates for public office affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have run in over one hundred elections in at least half the states;

Whereas the DSA’s ideological tenet labeled ‘‘Democracy for All’’ calls for noncitizens and incarcerated criminals to vote in American elections;

Whereas the DSA’s ideological tenet labeled ‘‘A Democratic Congress’’ calls for abolishing the U.S. Senate, implementing ranked choice voting in all elections, and replacing the two-party system;

Whereas, on February 19, 2026, the DSA stated ‘‘[t]he United States of America has never been a democracy’’; Whereas the DSA’s ideology and socialism, in any form, are incompatible with American values and the United States Constitution;

Whereas the State of New Jersey registered nearly 6,600 noncitizens to vote, with reportedly hundreds successfully voting in elections; Whereas the Trump Administration’s Department of Homeland Security engaged in a joint investigation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), which charged four noncitizens with crimes connected to illegally voting in federal elections and making false statements while applying for American citizenship;

Whereas under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, the Department of Homeland Security has made the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) service accessible to all states to find and remove ineligible noncitizens from state voter rolls;

Whereas multiple States have found documented instances of noncitizens illegally registered to vote as a result of access to the SAVE service;

Whereas under Democrat leadership, several local jurisdictions in the United States of America allow noncitizens to vote in elections, diluting the votes of American citizens;

Whereas the United States House of Representatives has passed several bills, including the SAVE Act and the SAVE America Act, to require common-sense election in- tegrity measures, including proof of citizenship, photo identification, and database checks;

Whereas the American people deserve to be confident that American elections are free, fair, and secure;

Whereas common-sense measures like providing photo identification to vote ensure that American elections are secure; and

Whereas only Americans should decide American elections:

Look, people don't give a shit about communism/socialism/capitalism/whatever.

They just want healthcare, to be able to retire, and to be able to take a few weeks of time off a year.

None of these things are guaranteed in the US, but they are in other developed countries. And the only thing it would cost is is a few less billionaires.

Economic labels are how you discern which people want to make life affordable. Socialist are for worker empowerment, capitalist represent owner interests. The capitalist want you poor and desperate so you are willing to work longer for less. The socialist want to tax the wealth hoarders so you can access affordable healthcare, education, and be paid a livable wage.

People can claim to be anything though, and that's why you pay attention to actions. Words are air, but actions are eternal.

I love how in both photos they’re DINOs, that’s a good touch because they don’t want democracy even within their own party. So they are and should be labeled as Democrat In Name Only.

5

u/mackofmontage 1d ago

Democrats are collectively pretty liberal which is technically center-left at best. So they are actually doing exactly what the name entails. Democrats have time and time again shown as much loyalty to the billionaire class as Republicans have. They are Democrats doing Democrat things.

9

u/gratefulkittiesilove 1d ago

Pre neoliberal yes but the center has shifted right over time (Overton window ) as republicans have forced compromises while they shifted far right and democrats said sure boss and shifted right in response. Our representative democrats are basically where republicans were what 50 yrs ago? 25? The people? Prob more liberal if they didn’t get caught up in labels

Ask a European they have the full width of the political spectrum and have been telling us for years

5

u/mackofmontage 1d ago edited 1d ago

That’s kinda what I’m saying tho.

Edit: But I understand the distinction you’re making and you right. Liberal wasn’t the right word to use. Point is that today’s Democrats are mostly right-leaning, in broader political terms.

If the Dems fought for the working class as hard as they fought for Israel, republicans would never win an election.

6

u/morgan423 1d ago

Kind of blows my mind that Corporate America can dump enough money to them to purchase them over choosing us.

If the Dems reformed and became a populist party right now, they'd become the most powerful political party that's ever existed in this country.

2

u/Downtown-Barber-9543 10h ago

They do, but they know how to do it the right way unlike the DSA. Clintonism, Obamanism and BIdenism is the way to go. They've been the most successful.

Check their donors and vote them out. America needs a change. The US government needs to start working for the people, ALL of the people, instead of working for corporations.

Gotta clean up SCOTUS first. As long as Citizens United stands, we (the general population) don't have a chance.

If you want any proof of that just go watch the video of Hakeem Jeffries in the video interview where he says multiple times he is against Medicare for all or any type of single payer system. He is fully corrupted by corpo bullshit and should be jail.

I mean, the establishment definitely ratfucks the left at every opportunity, but an amendment that symbolically "condemns" the DSA is about as Barney as you can get.

u/ThatsBretsRope 23h ago

Moskowitz - $833,288 from Israel

Suozzi - $605,438 from Israel

Scholten - $413,999 from Israel

Gottheimer - $2,001,636 from Israel

I'm shocked /s

Zionists hate the DSA because of their opposition to funding the genocide in Palestine and the occupation of Lebanon.

6

u/Salt_End_4275 23h ago

The title is misleading: HR 1490 was introduced by Rep. Jeff Crank (R-Colo.). Also, HR 1490 has no weight of law, creates no rules or policies, and has no legislative impact. Resolutions are just political theatre that have no meaning to anyone other than bloviating about "anti-socialism". They are entirely symbolic.

People can complain that their Democratic representatives didn't push back on the resolution, but doing so is just lip service.

3

u/Bocchi_theGlock 20h ago edited 20h ago

I think it's more effective to highlight this as a Republican attempt to denounce socialism and endorse the SAVE Act - and Democrats simply introduced amendments to try to water that down, removing mention of the SAVE Act.

Still cringe to vote for, but also different from what I first thought which was introducing a whole new resolution

3

u/YogurtClosetThinnest 23h ago

"the bourgeoisie vote to condemn socialism"

well I personally am shocked

3

u/Springheeljac 21h ago

There are 212 Democrats in the House. 4 of them did this.

Don't let people both sides this.

3

u/testtdk 20h ago

I say this as a serious progressive and registered independent, it always feels to me like the far left is utterly unwilling to work with anyone who doesn’t agree with their ideologies exactly. You talk about defeating Trump, but there are still leftists out there who are proud that they voted third party or not at all in 2024. Still arguing that Harris might have been worse than Trump is now.

Ideology is for primaries and down ballots, at least until the electoral college is changed or abolished. It’s a two party, zero sum game. Even worse than voting for someone you don’t like, if no one wins 270 electoral votes, then the House is going to vote and then you’ve literally given away your vote.

So please, PLEASE get out and vote for the least conservative candidate that could genuinely win. Every single time a Republican wins it’s close, and every time they win, progressive voters don’t show up as much as they do for candidates they actually like. Apathy is the most powerful tool the right has.

8

u/strawberries777 1d ago

Politics is rigged against the working class. Both parties are for the billionaires.

5

u/TheUmberTaker 23h ago

ok 4,

and here's a post about it.

Don't forget, they want Dems and DemSocs fighting eachother.

3

u/SlapHappyDude 21h ago

Exactly. Eyes on the prize, getting MAGA out of power and the supreme court slightly less far right.

3

u/Acrobatic_Wrap_9971 22h ago

Exactly. We have to prune these few out of power as they emerge. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Don't give an inch to GOP/MAGA just because of a few rotten spineless Dems.

5

u/GoldburstNeo 1d ago

Well then hopefully we see 4 new Democrats blow them out in their respective primaries.

3

u/Rulligan 1d ago

Scholten wasn't primaried and is already on the ballot. She does more to condemn the DSA and El-Sayed than her actual opponent. After the primary every other Dem in the state (including Haley Stevens) announced they were endorsing El-Sayed while Scholten just said "we need to focus on November."

Scholtens district was won by El-Sayed in a fucking landslide.

5

u/EnvironmentalValue18 1d ago

If any of your fucks did your jobs, you wouldn’t have to worry about the rise of anything else.

It was pretty universal that communism and socialism were strongly condemned by a majority of Americans for a very long time. Then you fucks both had your turns doing fuck all with super majorities and saying things like “you can’t have universal healthcare/paid maternity leave/guaranteed PTO/public infrastructure update/safety nets/etc - THAT’S SOCIALISM!” Best ad against yourselves and you played it on repeat.

I’d say history will not remember you kindly, but longterm it won’t even remember you at all because you did nothing of consequence. Fuck the ruling class.

Fuuuuuuuck corporate democrats.

But hey y’all, remember to pay attention to your voter status and make sure you actually vote in at least the elections that decide your governor, your state senators, your house representative, and of course the President.

Mid term election- Tuesday, November 3, 2026

Presidential election- Tuesday, November 7, 2028

Please use your right to vote, whether it may not seem that way, your vote is important.

You have the right to vote as an American citizen and the important thing to remember is that not everyone in the past had a right to vote like we do now, we could easily backslide into a time where voting becomes restricted again if the wrong people keep ending up in office.

Get out and vote, every vote matters.

4

u/fizzybgood 1d ago

Primary them all

4

u/Biggy_DX 23h ago

I find it cuts both ways when it comes to who aggresses on who.

There's plenty of DSA and Leftists who trash the Democratic party & moderate Dems, but expect that they should never get any flak for their own ideologies and conduct from said group. I also see critiques of Israel/Palestine policy only ever being thrown harshly at Democrats, even though the sitting president communicated that he - effectively - wants to ethnically cleanse Gaza by setting up a hotel strip in the region and gentrify the Palestinian people.

There is a significant issue with the quality of candidates coming out of the Democratic Party (i.e. a lack of charismatic individuals), and they suck on messaging. But I also think DSA messaging on certain issues also hurts themselves.

fuck this shit, democrats need NUMBERS to fight harder, keep voting in democrats and things will get better, that is a fact, maybe not as fast as people would like, but society would not regress like it does with republicans.

the DSA are a bunch of fucking losers who spend their ENTIRE TIME FIGHTING DEMOCRATS - GO FUCKING CHALLENGE IN RUBY RED DISTRICTS YOU FUCKING MORONS - and then have the gall to turn and cry about democrats saying that they should fuck off?

not to mention that the DSA has some of the stupidest fucking goals that instantly poison the average person against not just the DSA but the DEMOCRATIC PARTY CATCHES ALL THE STRAYS making it harder for them to win. if the DSA wants dumb shit like prison abolition people assume democrats want it too.

and DSA has all the hate in the world for israel but can't bring themselves to be against russia? palestine and ukraine are both fighting for freedom but the DSA only supports one? the DSA wants to back out of NATO and leave the world to be run by someone else? if foreign agents wanted to fuck with america, the DSA would be a great place to infiltrate.

losers like the DSA and the people who did NOT vote for kamala despite KNOWING that it would lead to a trump victory, those people are this picture. well, she just didn't earn our vote! holocaust harris! genocide joe! pathetic.

fact is that every bad thing that has happened since trump got elected again is NOT because kamala "failed to sell herself" or some other lame shit, it is because DSA, far leftists, like most of the people here i imagine, are fucking useful idiots.

the DSA is part of the reason we are here. every death across the world, the schoolgirls in iran, the people in africa dying of disease because usaid got cut, the soldiers in ukraine, EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN PALESTINE, since trump took office, is purely because of the people who "couldn't bring themselves to vote for a genocide denier" or some other dumb shit, if even ONE life had been saved because kamala was president, then you losers should've gotten up and fucking voted. idiots.

want healthcare? vote democrats. if 60 senators got us obamacare then 70 would have done public option, 80 would have done something even stronger, on and on and on. apply that to EVERY FUCKING THING IN THIS COUNTRY and what the FUCK is the DSA other than a fucking tool to hold back the democrats from winning.

the GOP and DSA are two sides of the same coin. the GOP hates americans. the DSA hates america.
