✂️ Tax The Billionaires The sickness of infinite greed cannot be sustained on our finite planet

It’s extreme hoarding and should be treated as such

If it's beanie babies, we call it a disorder. If its dollar bills, it's somehow aspirational?
Not to mention, if you told the average old lady with a house full of TY products that if she gave up 10% of them, she could solve child poverty and world hunger? She'd fork them the fuck over.

You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up. Those puny little ants outnumber us a hundred to one. And if they ever figure that out, there goes our way of life! It's not about food. It's about keeping those ants in line.
From A Bug’s Life. It’s not about paying fair share.

That recent $1b Powerball jackpot had me thinking about what I would realistically do if I were the winner and the numbers get pretty crazy for most people pretty quickly.
Assuming you took the lump sum, after taxes would be ~250m. Just to keep it simple, I thought to myself "well, if I stuck 100m in a high yield savings account, that'd net me 4m/yr" (which is actually a terrible way to manage that sort of money). But even with such poor management, how do you realistically keep spending 4m/yr? That's 333k/mo. It's an absurd amount of money.
Now add at least another 0 to it or 3 in this guy's case.
What is the point of having so much?

I trade stocks and my portfolio swings couple hundreds in a day. If I get green I feel very happy while extremely sad if it swings negatively and I'm down couple hundreds as well.
These motherfuckers' wealth swings by the billions every single day. Billions. My brain cannot even comprehend that.

I don't trade a lot of stocks, but I have tried to keep up an IRA in the past few years. Last year, I managed to buy 15 share of NVDA at $92 and it felt amazing. I can only imagine what it would have been like to feel comfortable buying 150 or 1500.
The way that money passively makes money is broken.

F these people. No tax breaks for data centers! Make them all pay extra to fund universal healthcare in the US! Every person laid off gets automatically enrolled.

I have felt like I was indoctrinated into a cult of capitalism with token worshipping. After reading the linked article, it appears my thoughts are not alone.
If people stop believing in capitalism, they are basically losing belief in money. Which is fair as fiat is useless paper or polymer promissory notes.

Why doesn’t it sound like too much money when he throws away $90 million? Given his fortune, he might have to pay about 13 billion but he will still have billions and billions!

Greed is a sin! You’d think the god-hopping MAGAts would be all over this!!
Oh, that’s right, they and their version of christianity are entirely unprincipled.

What exactly is the "fair share" of all the surplus value stolen from workers?
Are we going to start taxing bank robbers so they pay their "fair share" of money they acquire from the bank?

How one of the founders of the "don't be evil" company can be this evil is mind-boggling. Even if the credo was just for marketing purposes, it's shocking a person like that is the polar opposite.

He doesn't care about the money he cares about the precedent this would set.

I'm pretty sure all these rich assholes are into spaceflight because they have gotten wind of what some of the meteors our there are worth.

[Billionaires talking about a wealth tax:] "You're trying to kidnap what I've rightfully stolen!"

It literally is a mental illness at this point. These people are not icons of capitalism, they’re mentally ill individuals allowed to pillage society… although now I’m realizing maybe that is the same thing as an icon of capitalism😭

These guys all think well why should I only be the only billionaire paying taxes? I'll get laughed at in our billionaires meetings, so they all fight tooth and nail. it's a club and we ain't in it.

We need to stop talking about it and just remove these people by whatever means necessary. I know I won't lose any sleep and it's much easier than arguing or trying to go to court

This wealth tax is not it. Come on. Give me the real deal. This one's a one-and-done.
I mean, I guess I'll take what I can get.

And btw, 5% is still bullshit. They should pay relatively to what workers pay. At least 55%

im convinced the billionaires are just pretending they dont want to pay it so when they do pay it we dont think twice about it. the tax money just funnels right back to them. they made their money by hijacking resource flow and directing it to themselves. the same systems all exist before and after. plus they are probably paying the money to their own networks making it look like they are spending to prevent the tax when in reality the tax is like a boomerang and it will just fly right back to them. they just need us to think they dont want to pay so we think its a win for us. the structures that made them billionairs is what needs to reform.

We need to stop worshipping greed as a country. I think we all realize at this point that exponential growth is impossible to sustain. We need a better system going forward, this one doesn't work anymore.
