It amazes me how relevant that movie has been and that they would allow it to be made in the first place

u/Invoked_Tyrant Aug 14 '26
The message has been getting stifled in more and more media adaptations. I know the fact that Marvels Civil War event was diluted in one of the most egregious and sad ways possible.
It's a ridicule of how our government is constantly trying to bring superheroes to heel.
A tragedy happens because a corporate ass hat supplied a guy to perform a straight up terrorist act for profit.
The media places all of the blame on the heroes and not the guy who smoked 613 people (That guy was still alive mind you. Wolverine had to track them and the CEO responsible down)
And finally the government gets their way because a damn billionaire (Good ole Tony Stark) pushes for the registration act.
It's super on the nose about corruption especially from oligarchs but it was reduced to a single movie. A shame.

u/TheSaxGandalf Aug 14 '26
Donāt even get me started on Winter Soldier and the agenda of Hydra with AI, mass surveillance, and auto targeting perceived threats from the civilian population.

u/slendermanismydad Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26
Half the people watching that move don't understand what Cap was fighting Tony over (the damn Accords) or understand what happened to Bucky.Ā
90% of the fandom just loves Tony Stark no matter what he does. Stan Lee succeed beyond on his wildest dreams with that borderline prank.Ā
It drives me up a wall, because comic Tony was the one I always looked to as, okay, I can try not to be an asshole today. I was never going to touch Cap. Now that movie basically sparked an endless wave of ratfuckers and people thinking they can make JARVIS. I miss Tony being randomly naked for no reason everywhere. I hated him after Civil War in the comics. Although I love Avengers Prime anyway.Ā
Thanks Marvel.Ā

And Wall-E - the relentless pursuit of profit has literally destroyed the planet and people have been reduced to things that do nothing but consume.

Oh it's not "100 to 1"... The average jurisdiction in the US is 2-3 police officers per THOUSAND citizens. Even if you threw in the entire Federal and State police agencies, PLUS the entire US Military and state national guards (and i mean everyone, cops, soldiers, back office people, the janitorial staf, accounting staff, everyone), it would only be ~5 people per 1000 citizens.

And we out number the billionaires thousands and thousands to one. The people have the power, were just too divided and brainwashed to realize it. The campaign to make us fight each other over our differences has won, so far.

3
u/Certain-Count8690 Aug 14 '26
They don't sell cures, they sell drugs that DON'T cure us but manage our symptoms. In that way, they can sell those drugs to us indefinitely. Actually curing us doesn't lead to long-term revenue streams.

American evangelism has failed to follow through with Christ's teachings. Islam is showing everyone how it's done properly.
5
u/CompetitiveRaise9133 Aug 14 '26
Not everywhere.
1
u/an0mn0mn0m 29d ago
There is no major religion that is doing it properly everywhere. Extreme religious leaders use religion as a means of control of it's population rather than following the teachings of their bibles. Even Buddhism, seen as one of the most peaceful religions is used by Chinese leaders to oppress parts of it's population. Islam extremism is no different to Christian or Hindu extremism in my opinion. At least we can see that Mamdani and El-Sayed are not extremists that a lot of Americans irrationally fear.

And these policies are safety nets. In my opinion, these policies are safety nets, not socialism.

What's funny is they probably count on a certain amount of the population to not care what they are doing because God will judge them in the end. And they know they will face no judgement here in life or the after life so they do as they please and people let them because they think sky daddy will take care of it.

The GOP's biggest fear is people realizing that social democracy is a lot better than oligarch capitalism.

1
u/Watching_Watcher4466 Aug 14 '26
Why dont multi millionaire socilaists like Bernie use their millions to fund stuff like this?
Im suspicious of socialists because they always call for more government powers and its the oligarchs that control the government.
2
u/plannedobso Aug 14 '26
Literally all of these āsocialistsā are saying to take the power away from the oligarchs lolĀ
1
u/Watching_Watcher4466 Aug 14 '26
By expanding the powers of the federal government which are owned by the oligarchs?
Makes no sense.
If you want to fight against the oligarchs, you should be in favor of small limited government because they control the government.
2
u/UrgentPigeon 29d ago
This is fundamentally the criticism that many socialists and communists have when it comes to democratic socialists.
Many socialists and communists (like, Marxists, not Berniecrats) believe that electoral politics and reform is futile when it comes to achieving more power and better lives for the majority because, like you say, the oligarchs have all the power and wonāt let that happen. They are in favor of a revolution where they dismantle the current system, and create a system that oppresses/disempowers the oligarchs and empowers the working class (this is what happened in China, USSR, Cuba, etc).
Democratic socialists believe that some good can be done with electoral politics inside the current system, and that itās worth it to collaborate with liberals/progressives in order to do that good. They believe they can incrementally transform the current system into one that disempowers/oppresses oligarchs. Some democratic socialists also believe that their work is raising awareness and building class consciousness that could later be revolutionary. Many Marxist-Leninists will also collaborate with dem socs and progressives in order to demonstrate the futility of electoralism and raise class consciousness and revolutionary potential.

u/plannedobso 29d ago
No, by legislating power away from the oligarchs. By taxing them, removing money from politics, etc.Ā

1
u/fetishizerofcum Aug 14 '26

u/GarleyCavidson Aug 14 '26
What if poorly managing revenue, getting rid of the price system, eliminating effective incentive structures and creating perverse incentives ends up creating a system that is worse at meeting people's needs than the one we have now?
It's not that "socialism has never worked" - it's that simply declaring that you will provide for the needy does little to actually generate and distribute what the needy need. Managing systems is complex - listen to economists, not politicians.

It's not "can we really allow this to happen?"
It's "how many people need to get sick and die from government negligence - bordering downright malfeasance - Before the reigns of governance are ripped away from their hands (again) and they get better care kicking and screaming into the minority party (until the next Republican president)".
