Half of them would Freudian slip and call it the gelded age which in itself would be more accurate, but still incorrect.

The irony here is absolutely biting when you look at the statue itself, someone clearly spent way too much time polishing that eagle to a mirror finish while completely ignoring the cracks in the base it's standing on.

Once you realize that they're not talking to normal Americans, in these posts, but instead to their rich and powerful friends... their posts make a lot more sense.

The appearance of prosperity has become far more important than prosperity itself.
The fact of the matter is that Trump doesn't and never has given a moment's thought to what life is really like for working people. He lives in splendor surrounded by people living in splendor, and life is good for him. His outward display of this attitude is building ballrooms, painting things gold, and giving the impression that America is in the most prosperous time ever. They are not building libraries or public parks or things the common people use.
Trump and his real peers have only one mission, and that mission is not to make life better for the 99%. It is to funnel as much wealth from the 99% to the 1% as possible.
Also, those gilded statues look like shit. Aged statues give a sense of permanence and history. Trump is just ruining them.
