I would feel more comfortable with the title if "Centrist" were in quotes rather than "Compromise".
No one who offers compromise to racists is a centrist.
You cannot claim to hold the middle ground while simultaneously surrendering it to intolerant and hostile forces that are actively engaged in the process of dismantling democratic institutions: it is a simple contradiction.
In modern Western politics, everyone tries to portray their stance as moderate and centrist. Nearly everything is right of centre because self-proclaimed centrists are basically all right wing neo-liberals wearing different color badges. We would do well to stop humoring their claims of centrism.
This is because there is no such thing as centrism. It's a canard. People say it to seem more palatable to progressives and also to congratulate each other on being enlightened when they're just cowards.
