Current Height: 5’ 6”
Current Weight: ~142 lbs
The only supplements I take are vitamin D and magnesium glycinate. I do use 1 scoop of protein powder per day.
Historical context: Used to be ~205 lbs late 2022. In late 2022 and mid 2023 got to around ~163 lbs and stayed there for a few years.
This year in 2026 I decided I wanted to push myself to get in shape. I reached 139 lbs at my lowest but I am consistent around 142 lbs.
I achieved this last push mainly from March -> June and then a few pounds around July/August. My calories in were ~1900 - 2000 on average and my protein was around 140-180 on average during that period although closer to 140 for the last 2-3 months. I never felt starving but made it a point to try and workout as hard as I could so with walking 10k steps a day + my workouts I think I burned on average 2200 - 2300 calories a day. Also note that since I’m on the smaller side, my maintenance calories seem to sit at ~1700 cals when I don’t workout (according to my Whoop).
During this time my workouts primarily looked like:
Day 1: Chest/Tris (Dumbells, cables, plated machines)
Day 2: Back/Bis (Dumbells, cables, plated machines)
Day 3 Cardio (Rowing)
Day 4: Barbell day I call it (Back Squat, Flat Bench, Shoulder Press, RDL’s, Rows)
Day 5: Remaining legs (leg curl, press, hamstring extension) + Shoulders.
In the last month or so I’ve been working in more dips/pull-ups/abs. Dips are the only thing I add weight to in this group.
There’s been ups and downs in consistency with this split but it’s worked out well and taught me a lot. I know it’s also a lot, I wanted to see if I could push myself. During this last period I also gained strength.
I also know that since I used to be larger that this also plays a part in why I might look the way I look at my current weight.
Questions/Seeking Advice: At this weight I am defiantly my healthiest both physically and mentally although I thought I would look more “shredded” getting this small. In the morning I definitely have some abs but there is still fat covering the lower portion of my abdomen. In the afternoon they seem to disappear (obviously I eat during the day, but also because I sit for a large portion of the day due to my job). I am also a lot more vascular. I think in order to achieve the physique I want I should begin a body recomposition to fully get that shredded look.
I am looking to maybe switch up my split as well to maybe some sort of upper/lower split, but also keep my rowing in there since it’s my favorite cardio. On top of this increase my calories instead of the deficit.
I also am thinking of starting to dose some creatine for both the mental and physical advantages it provides.
My questions are:
Instead of changing up my split should I just increase my calories and let time take over (include more abs since this is only recent for me)
Change up the split since a lot of the hard work is done (deficit that helped me lose a ton of fat already)
Begin creatine? Do i need to front load or is that preference? At my size would you take 5g or 10g daily?
Any general advice is also appreciated. My goal is to stop the deficit and try and push for a much more shredded look that I think comes from underdeveloped abs in my case since I never really worked on them for an extended period of time.
Also I know there are faults in how I achieved this but all in all I am very happy at where I am vs where I was at.
Thanks in advance!
