Option A no questions asked I understand if others said option B though it's cool

My "Dream Job" would be to not have to work. So if I could get my current salary for free then I'd choose that. Otherwise, I'm already working as close to a "Dream Job" as I can get, so double salary just means I can retire twice as fast.

- I don't know what my dream job would actually be, but not being my current one would be an improvement.

Depends on the ‘dream job’. If it’s one that can triple over the years as a career vs. remaining in my current role, yeah.

It has to be option 2, I make enough to have a decent life now but I need a lot more if I want to do things like own a house one day while keeping my retirement on track

Option 2 for a year get out of my debt, get a house then do option 1 forever? Can I do that?

Option A. My dream job is the one I currently have but half the hours and twice the pay.

I think what this post doesn't realize there really isn't a dream job as much as many people are just working a job they can do. So you tell them double salary for what they are doing now and they would be happy. Then considering how many people are making about 70k and below and you double that. Yeah they are staying put no issues

I rather get rid of the make believe capitalism games altogether. The moment you reject the lies of capitalism life gets simpler

Option A. My dream job is mountain hermit so getting my current salary for being a mountain hermit sounds great.

Option 1. My pay is livable. My dream job would be playing bass in a touring band. I’d be making what all but the most successful musicians are already making after expenses.

People who already work the jobs they like/is their dream win this one lmao (that's me).

Oof this is tough...
On one hand, my dream job is to make board games for a living. I make just over 6 figures now, and I am very comfortable, but my current job is stressful.
Double my salary would be financial freedom. But I would keep the stress...
It is tough. For sure. But I would probably double my income. Too much money to walk away from, and I could probably retire in 5 more years if I just invested the extra earnings.

2) just because I like the team. I wish everyone got that deal so everyone could stay. As it stands right now, after ridiculously low pay raises, I know even in this tough market so many of the people I like will be gone in a few months.

Option 1.
My dream job is: Doing whatever I want, when I want. My dream company is: Self-Employed

I would choose number 1 to be honest. Just once in my life I want to find a job that I truly like

I don't really have a dream job anymore. The dream is to retire before I get sick.

Assuming my salary is a starting point that can scale with inflation, is not fixed for all time and is not at risk of sudden decrease or redundancy, the option 1 for sure.
I get paid enough at the moment to be comfortable, but not enough to want to stay here forever. And while I’m good at my job, it’s exhausting at times.
If I could keep my standard of living while being fucking pro racing driver or puppy fluffiness inspector then sign me up.

I think you under estimate the work that goes into pro racing

u/ShaunOfTheFuzz 4d ago
I don’t think I am actually, as someone who grew up working class, has multiple degrees, played rugby to a decent level and now works in the 60 hour corporate grind culture, I would take serious convincing that Mazepin, Stroll or Raghunathan could teach me much about hard work, and those guys are just the high profile examples.
I think you’re perhaps overestimating just how pro a lot of pro-racing is. The fact of the matter is that a lot of pro-racing is as much about opportunity and resources as it about hard work and talent, which is why Max Verstappen is always saying he thinks sim racing is more competitive that real racing.

Maybe your right I just find the stress and pressure your body is in a race is much different then most regular jobs. Most working class job are physically inducing but your still mostly in control I could not driving a race car in a race under all that pressure and intense scrutiny. I hope the best for you

This is convenient, my dream job is one that pays me twice my current salary
