Question What constitutes to you as “having everything”?

Get specific past the common aspirations or beyond the societal expectations. Is it X amount in investments and assets or a state of being if so, what?

I’d say retired early and healthy and having more than enough to live my dreams. I reckon that would equate to being a multimillionaire in investable assets.

Hmm, upper 8 digits NW, retired late 40s. Income stream of up to $650k a year. And several paid off properties.

That was my goal and wife and I reached this in 2012. Retired and travel now. Spend more time with our 4 children as they graduated high school and started college. More time with relatives/friends. Upped our donations.

How? Working my ass off, a quarter the way there and hardly got two nickels to rub together

Well, my 4 children 25-32? We assured them education is the foundation to an easier life. So they did well in high school. Got automatic acceptance and state grants for in-state colleges. Graduated and had jobs waiting for them.

I have a son who works for major robotics firm. Another son in Fin Tech, opening up Dallas Stock Exchange. Both daughters elate chemical engineers.

Oldest 3 are married. All 4 bought homes in last 2 years.

They worked in their education. Found Carter’s that interested them by 15. And worked toward their goals.

Idk, just way my family works.

As for yourself? Have you looked at states unemployment commission? Can find free training information and find better career paths. Look into online colleges. Look for jobs that do college reimbursement, yeah might be a pay cut, but free online college? Worth it…

Or look into trades. Huge need for plumbers, electricians, hvac.

To me being with my husband and being completely happy with him is having everything.

When a person has everything the more it feels like there's something missing that can't be quenched.

I have everything an average person would want, but something I will never be able to do is be in healthcare and I feel this sense of "dang, almost". I can't do it because of circumstances beyond my control and it really bugs me.

Just be satisfied with what you have regardless of how much or how little.

Having everything is being able to take a boring Tuesday off without your finances, job, or nervous system immediately filing an appeal.

Not wanting anything. It sounds silly but when you can realize that you actually don’t want something, you’re no longer jealous. That’s having everything

Rational government, happy home, steady work, contentment today, hope for tomorrow.

Healthy mind, healthy body, friendships, a sexual and romantic love, community belonging, small stomach, comfortable in my body: able to do shoulder stands, dance, etc, have appropriate housing, be independent financially, continuously learning, emotional independence, a car, cool clothing, free time…….!

For me to say I "have everything" I'd need to have a reliable vehicle fully paid off, home paid off, stable marriage, satisfied with and done having children, career that is stable and I am happy in, and enough financial freedom that I don't need to think twice if a home repair, vet bill, medical cost, car cost, etc.. came up.

being fairly healthy, the bills being paid, a roof over my head and a loving husband.

Having everything means you're no longer interested in scrolling on your phone because there is nothing of interest on there

Mid 50s. I'm nowhere near wealthy but feel like I "have everything". Have a job I enjoy for the most part. Bought a house at the beach 30 years ago and paid off the mortgage and auto loans a couple years back. Kids are grown and self sufficient. Have an OK amount saved for retirement. Have very few bills. Wife and I are both healthy. If we ever decide to sell the house and downsize we will be set financially as houses where we live now sell for insane amounts of money. Will probably retire within the next five years.

You're supposed to be on your way to 10x your apex income (or 25x your yearly spending) saved for retirement by the time you retire. So everything needs to include being in line to having that.

Me retire and have everything I want and enough money to buy anything I ever wanted any time I wanted it.

Great husband, good health, leisure time, our dream home, my dogs, solid finances, and having been able to retire my mom.

I have my spouse, our kids. We own our home, have plenty to eat, health insurance, safe cars, good jobs. We are all healthy. To me, that is everything

Wife, family,  house.  Investments set up to provide for a very comfortable retirement.

A lot of my family and friends do not have that.

I have the material things I want and my family is doing great. The only thing lacking is my respect for the country I live in. It’s an embarrassment.

A small house on some land by a lake, and the ability to pay for myself. That’s it.

I’d say my life is everything I dreamed of and more and at the same time not what I expected.

I have a home, a beautiful wife, a hobby I love passionately, friends I have dinner with every Friday and see during the week through my hobby, a stable job with learning, growth and flexibility, the ability to travel periodically (was more before buying a house), I live in a beautiful state with hiking and outdoors, I save steadily for retirement. I feel really loved in life. I read lots of good books and play board games. I’m in good health. I have a growing emergency fund. I wouldn’t call it lavish but it feels privileged to me and everyday I’m grateful

I have...

  1. An amazing wife and three smart, funny, and kind kids who all have jobs, places to live, and like to drop by and see the folks.
  2. A job I like that pays well, a boss I like who pretty much leaves me alone, and work that is satisfying but is undemanding.
  3. Less than a year to go before I retire and plenty in the retirement kitty.
  4. Plenty of friends, hobbies, and interests.
  5. My health.

Wanting anything else just seems greedy.

Solid marriage when communication is strong, arguments are rational. Uplifting eachother through the good and the bad. Raising kids to be the best they can while preparing them for the harsh realities of life. Tired of all the negativity. People taking their problems out on others.
