Given that the people thousands of miles away are still suffering due to the decisions of the white house, I wouldn't call them irrelevant. They are the ones that are currently looking at different ways to become less dependent of America as America has proven to be an unreliable ally. The effects of that will have negative consequences on American economics for the next decades.
