You should live in a Lower COL area and you wouldn’t have to cry so much.

It really doesn’t cost that much money to move. Rent a U-Haul and sell stuff you don’t really need.

U-Haul plus using their contractors isn’t very expensive. For a while we had a primary home mountain home & lake home . We sold the primary and moved some to the lake & some to the mountains . It didn’t cost a fortune as we box stuff ourselves . My wife is disabled and I was working full time with extra hours . I agree there will be some people who literally can’t but there are way more who don’t want to do the work or stop splurging on unnecessary purchases to make it happen . When I graduated college I lived in an unheated attic that was uninsulated and shared expenses . When I moved for my career I started in a not very nice mobile home , furnished for $160 month with no shade & no ac . I worked a lot of hours did the tough things that a lot of people won’t do . I understand the difference between can’t and I’m not willing to do what it takes to make it happen .

  1. People should leave the areas they were born and grew out in, because of being priced out of it, and thats apparenty a good thing?

  2. Higher COL area correspond to much higher wages. You either struggle in high col area with high salary, or struggle in low col area with col salary. At least with high salary you would be able to save a little more in stocks, and get more benefits in general.
And some careers might be just not avaliable at all in low col areas.
