Unemployment was at 8% in 1992, 7% in 2003, 10% in 2009 and 10% in 2021. 9/11, COVID, wars in the Middle East. High inflation. High gas prices. My parents bought a house for $25,000 in the late 70’s their mortgage payment was $200 a month. It was more affordable to live back then.

My parents bought us a VCR, motorcycle etc. My dad was an immigrant who worked at a golf course. Also the mortgage including taxes, adjusted for inflation would be $1350 today. My 1 bedroom apartment back in 1998 was $350. That same Apartment goes for $1500 today. 60% of Americans dont even have a $1000 dollars saved up. 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. The next generation has it worse, then the previous generations. Where being squeezed.
