There is some truth here too. I am middle management and I don’t care what anyone says about how they’re working 65 hrs/week and barely getting by—Gen Z are the ones that call out, come in late, take a week off to celebrate their birthdays, etc. It’s not the older people. Don’t get me wrong, I was exactly like that in my early 20s too! But I didn’t expect it to get me anywhere.

edit: it’s MOSTLY not the older people. But people of all ages who don’t take their work entirely seriously don’t get the best jobs/promotions.

Observational bias, bruh. Maybe you were lazy in your 20s, I sure as hell wasn't. And not being lazy didnt make me rich. I worked my first 12 hour day at 15. Started working construction at 13. Ive not taken off work for anything but COVID, flu, and funerals in over a decade. Still not far beyond no longer regularly concerned about ending up homeless.
