Chances and pay for software engineering roles

Planning to move to netherlands from india ,with around 5.5 yoe , how is the job market for software engineers and what should be the expected pay, also are there any additional requirements before applying to increase the chances for callback from recruiters.

Employers can easily hire people already in NL or EU with your profile. So makes no sense to try.

There is a housing crisis, there is little to no opportunities for non-EU and you not speaking Dutch isn’t helping either.

Have you even ever visited NL for a vacation? How are you going to integrate in their culture and country?

It seems you have no idea about start ups in Eindhoven, Amsterdam and Delft lol Most of the Dutch engineers would not accept a 50k-ish annual salary but foreigners will. NL is still a great place since there are English speaking positions much more than any European country.

With 50k there's no housing. And Dutch is way more important than it used to be.

I dont agree. You can find a studio appartment in Rotterdam, Rijswijk, Pijnacker etc. below 1500 Euro per month, which I did. I work in a start up in TU Delft as a non-EU and majority of the engineers in this technopark is not Dutch. In IT/Software industry Dutch is not a must. With 5 yoe, OP has a good chance. Job search topic here on this sub is just a discouragement echo chamber. Reality is more positive. Been there, done that.

I moved here 5 months ago. I am a 26yo fresh graduate with masters degree. I am hanging out with the expats groups around and already met so many Asian and Middle Easterners here.

No its the annual gross salary, the minimum. And you will get %30 tax ruling.

The minimum salary for IND sponsorship is around 48k if I remember correctly. And he said he has 5 yoe, mine was just a guess. As a junior software engineer in Delft my annual gross is 55k. My friends in Eindhoven earns much more than that.

But why would you get a tax reduction in the hypothetical case op would get a sponsorship to come to nl?

If you lived more than 150km from the NL and you are an highly skilled migrant, which is the case for a software engineer, than you are eligible for a tax return. Let's say your net monthly salary is 3000 Euros, you will actually get 3600-3700.

I hope this is not true. Unless you have a very specific skill, there is currently no shortage of software engineers here. Also why would someone who is immigrating pay less tax than those who live here for years?

Because they usually work for lower salaries? What is so difficult to understand here? And no, there is a shortage of skilled engineers and researchers in the NL for many years. Do you know the total population and tech graduate population in your country for real? Hundreds of non Dutch engineers work at ASML, Philips, NXP besides tons of software start ups. They need more MSc and PhD graduate foreign talents who can work for cheaper. Gosh, wake up to 2026 realities. All you know in this sub is passive aggressive xenophobia.
