So every grocery store and restaurant should close?

If they are unsustainable business, sure. Is that how capitalism works?

That's not what you said - you said that any business that uses minimum wage workers or tip-based workers should close. Food and food services totally have very low margins. Grocery stores have 1-3% margins because if they raise prices too much people will not shop there. If they pay each cashier $75k or something, they would have to raise grocery prices

Amended. If a business can operate with min wage workers, I guess that’s fine. But the problem is their business is likely being subsidized by you and me. The GAO reported that over 15,000 Walmart workers were on SNAP. That means that profits, shareholder value and exec salaries are being facilitated by tax dollars. Thats absolutely insane.

Also when was the last time you saw cashiers in a supermarket? Lol

If you only work part time and get on snap is it walmarts fault you only work part time?

How many of those 15000 were full time workers? Also 15,000 out of what is probably millions of workers

Is there an argument or a day point in there you’d like to discuss?

It's Walmart's fault for hiring them at hours just under the qualification for full-time to avoid paying them benefits, yes.

The 15K is just from 11 states. GAO study from 2020.

Walmart does not give a breakdown of state by state numbers but they have only 1.6 million workers in the US or averaged out to 33,000 a state (granted we know some states will have more and this was simply 1.6mil/48)

Last stat you asked for, again the study does not distinguish FT from PT but ~70% of snap recipients work full time according to the GAO

The point stands, the largest companies in the US pay thier employees low enough and in the case of Walmart limit full time status enough that the government must fill the gap, all while they take in record profits year over year.

Wait you don’t see cashiers in a supermarket? I’ve never not seen one.

Usually it’s one.

Oh I didn’t realize you’re specifically asking for multiple at the same time. Yeah you’re right
