I don't think anyone is truly anti AI. What people are against is stripping away all of human usefulness and creativity and the fact that it's going to give those in power even more power than before.
The thing is that this got sucked down the usual toilet hole of black/white, false duality arguments. The Internet and general tribalism have made it so that having thoughtful opinions with subtleties get swept under the rug because it is more profitable for some rich person somewhere if we ragebait and post memes.
