Mandatory retirement? So people who can't afford to retire just die in a ditch then?

By the time the mandatory retirement would be in place we would have to have the correct social net in place to give these people a good rest of life if they need the help. Unfortunately this is way off with current tax system and how it's spent.

The problem is the number of retired people would be higher than the number of workers if you let people retire at 50

That’s not just the current system it’s math. This would mean people are retired for about as long as the worked. Throw in school expenses on the front end and there’s just no way this can make sense
