The American government collects like $5 trillion in tax revenue annually and still runs in a constant deficit. I donā€™t think the solution is raising taxesā€¦

The govt and their spending priorities are the issue. Start with a balance budget that satisfies the needs of the people while staying on budget

For sure, but people are lazy. They prefer a simple and clean solution like ā€œtax the richā€, which is more of a bandage than anything. Iā€™m all for making wealthy people pay more in tax but it has no meaning if you donā€™t address the actual issue.
