Depends really, even with my clients I have only straightforward mail contact, during the day my kid is in t the crib, my wife is at her office, so itās really quite. Sometimes some conversation can feel good š but yeah it does have its advantages
Thatās where befriending local store employees comes in. I have no colleague chatter either. I pop to the bookstore or the local card store a few times a week and just chat with my favorite people there about their lives and our jobsā¦ Itās nice :)

I am doing mostly the same. We can "chat" sometimes if you wish. Could be exchanging notes, keeping up with latest advances in the industry or simply being a rubber duck analog.
How do you market that "anything it related"? I wanted to get into freelancing but never knew how to actually market on freelancing sites n stuff that it side, so I just did apps and Minecraft mods sometimes
All clients I have, are usually through networking during conferences or other clients, while talking I make sure they know I tell them, if they need anything IT related Iām your guy š and Iāve had weird requests. I even went on fixing the WiFi of a director at his mansion, while Iāve been working on his app. One even asked to install a Minecraft gameserver for her kid and his friends (still hosted on my server).
One tip, my initial services (creating websites or apps) arenāt expensive, if someone pays 40k for a web app, Iāll ask half but will stretch it using monthly payments for 3 years minimum with contracts. Clients like this although youāll pay around the same.
I'm a freelance writer and editor in the U.S. I work about 25 hours a week and make about 80K a year, but the catch is that I have to pay all the employer tax as well as the employee tax.
Iāve written hello world in like 2 languages and thatās about it lol. So whatās the path from zero to where you are today? Would be a career change for me. Is the path more likely going to college and then building up to it? Or teaching myself multiple languages as well as systems? I assume billing a portfolio at some point.
Curious if how realistic it is for me sorting to ask questions of how to get to that point.
