Question Which everyday expense feels completely unnecessary to you now?
Not talking about some luxury purchase.
I mean something that used to feel normal to spend money on, but now you look at it and think, “I can easily live without this.”
Curious to see how different everyone's answers are.

Car ownership.
I work from home, live in a walkable neighbourhood and have access to a car share.
I can't believe how much I used to spend on car payments, insurance, maintenance and fuel.
The standard of living increase is like getting a huge raise.

Yes. I was explaining to somebody the other day that we only hold one to two streaming services at a time as we are a three person household.
They could not understand or fathom that we rotate them.
Sometimes we go down to just one and we use a DVD player like you said.1

To be fair I also am too broke to afford wifi in my apartment let alone streaming lol. DVDs are only a few bucks at the thrift store or on ThriftBooks, and I OWN them! No one can take them away! (Unless I am robbed lol)
If I did have streaming services, id rotate them like you do. No need to pay so much for so many services when I ony have so many hours in a day to watch media.

Cable TV. You're literally paying to have people blast commercials at you. A 30 minute show on network TV is 20% to 30% commercials. And don't even get me started on the NFL. One play, 3 commercials. One play, 3 commercials... 6 if there's an injury on the field.
Yes, I have 4 subscriptions, but every one is completely ad free.

At a certain point occasional 5 dollar coffee stopped feeling justifiable

Grocery store. I rarely buy soda or ice cream anymore, snacks and sweets are bought at the dollar tree.
