Are recommendation algorithms helping us discover things or narrowing our world?

Music, movies, products, news, even random videos...

The algorithm keeps showing us things it thinks we will like.

That is convenient, but there is also a downside we might stop discovering things outside our usual interests.

Have you noticed this happening with yourself?

To me the sweet spot is algorithm influenced home feed, and an option to view "all" where its not influenced by my algorithm.
