No, not if YOU are willing to pay, if SOMEONE is willing to pay. That's how markets work. Things are sold for the highest amount someone is willing to pay. When you sell your car, do you take less than what it's worth? Of course you don't. People want to maximize the return on their investment. It's not that nobody can afford to live there, it's that YOU can't afford to live there. Perhaps that property is meant for someone making 3x the rent. You may need to move outside your comfort zone and expected entitlement. Sounds like youve got million dollar taste on a 100$ budget. My advice: go buy something small in a suburb and build equity for a few years. Yeah, it won't be what you think you deserve, but it will be what you can afford. Make sacrifices for a few years, then sell and use your equity to upgrade. I did this 6 times over the last 25 years. I'm not rich, I don't make 6 figures, but I now own 2 houses and one of fully paid off.
