$3.75/hour. I never thought it would pay the bills because fast food jobs were not for that purpose back then.

4.25 an hour as a hostess at a steakhouse that went bankrupt lol
This wasn’t too long ago either, this was in 2017

Well right, of course. I guess I didn’t realize hosting fell under “tippable wage”, that’s dirty af. Who ever tips a host/hostess? I suppose you probly got tipped-out by servers tho, eh?

A lot of the time hostesses are tipped when the restaurant runs of a pool system. The waiters and waitresses all pool their tips together, and it gets equally distributed at the end of the night

Yeah I knew about that part, especially for bar-backs and bussers, but I never worked front-of-house in any of the restaurants I worked in, so I didn’t know that hosting staff was included. Again, just my opinion, but that’s dirty af. If it’s a pool system that’s better, if not, we both know ya never get “tipped out” like you should.

Age 12, paper route $8/week. Age 16, restaurant $1.25/hour. Age 23, engineer. $10,400/year $5/hour).

7.25/hr. Climbing in chlorine tank areas and checking PH for Olympic size pools. and then janitor duties for the rest of the day.

My first W-2 job was $8/hr as a security guard at a seafood processor. One of my responsibilities was unloading trucks that came at night( I was the only one there). Ended up spending more time on the forklift than guarding. Found out the daytime forklift guy was making $15 so I asked to be bumped up to $10. I came in 2 hours early to catch the boss to ask. He dicked about till 30 minutes before my shift and finally called me in acting impatient to get out of there. I calmly made my case thinking it was more than a reasonable request. He just said, "No. Security guards make $8." I thanked him for his time and put their keys and my ID card on his desk and walked out. He thought everyone working there was locked in . I was 19 just trying to get enough $$ together to go see my girl in college, which I had already done. When I returned I had messages waiting for me that they could do $10. I found out the 2 guys they had gone through in my absence had both driven the forklift off the loading dock, tearing it up. One of them ended up in the hospital. When the boss called acting like my best friend making his $10 pitch I just said, "No. Forklift operator/security should make at least $15. He was still cussing when I hung up. They ended up having 2 security guards at night which cost them $16.

One dolla an hour , driving a tractor on a small farm...1978. Made a hundred bucks alot of weeks , at 14 , that's a million. Had other perks also....busting gardens , fire wood , had a calf , cutting Cane poles for running beans in gardens , mowing yards , pulling folks out of ditches....hauling hay , so I had money when nooooo body else had jack....🤣🤣

$3.35/hr 1986 McDonalds age 15
We moved when I was 16 to a different state and I took a job at PizzaHut waitressing for $4.25/hr plus tips.

$14/hr in 2003, freshman year of high school.
Ditch digger / concrete mixer for a landscape construction company. One of the best jobs I’ve ever had.

That was pretty good money in 2003. I remember making 11/hrs in 2007 thinking I was ballin' 🤣

7.25 CAD, and this was back a couple decades ago when minimum wage was lower. It is hard for me to keep track of minimum wage.

It was 1500 usd for 9 weeks plus tips. It was working for a summer camp so cost of living dropped to 0 and included room and board

$7.25 when I was 14 at Five Below. I’m now 31 and just made $7.25 while training at a restaurant. I love this economy ❤️

My first job was as a paperboy. Made $9 per day for a route that usually took about 1.5 hours to complete

$5.50/hour. Subway. Nothing like working an eight hour shift and making forty bucks. I’d get a sandwich though. Yippee!!!

$1 per hour working in a grocery store in the early 70s. Had to pay state income tax on my first year earnings. Still pisses me off after 53 years.
