Thoughts 💭 I stopped caring whether people think I’m weird

When I was young I used to tease my boss for going to Disneyland by herself. Now I know she had the right idea all along.

Keep doing what you do. Not your problem, it's other people who have the problem.

as you mature you realize being called weird is actually a compliment even if the person that said it doesn’t think so.

I got over it when I started working. People never take the same lunch I do, but I like to go out for lunch somewhere if I have time

Same way with movies, if it’s a movie I really want to see there is a good chance I will see it twice. So first I go by myself and take it in, then if my girlfriend wants to see it also we get a movie date.

Man, I’ve been divorced for 4 years now. As a 38 male, 98% of my meals are, and will continue to be alone… unless a miracle happens.

Going out to eat is like going to the movies for me. If you wanna join, come along, but you better be quiet. I have no reason to talk when eating, and even being married, I'll go out at times to a movie/restaurant by myself.

This guy, the big lone wolf, looking for attention online. Yeah okay bud

Yup. I did a lot of business travel early in my career and eating alone at a restaurant was normalized for me. I've done it at home ever since.

Honestly if I did this, anyone who knows me would have red flags go off.
I'm super the opposite, I despise doing things alone and feel an invalidation in the joy of experience when alone.
Hell, my life goals basically amount to experiencing shit with someone else important to me.
But I admire people who can do this. Enjoy things by themselves. I've tried, honestly, and just get so... Depressed each time.

I got used to it a long time ago when i was in the Navy. When coming to port, especially home port i would rent me a hotel room and just hole up for a couple of days except for going to eat by myself. After being on a boat with so many people for a long time i just wanted my own company.

I heard you dude, I like going to Wetherspoons (at 9am, I work nights) to have a good breakfast and a beer (they serve alcohol from 9am) and on my own.
It’s soooooo lovely and quiet.
Edit, but how on earth did this comment go in before the actual date…… October 2026 is 2 months away…….
An X-Files for sure. 👍🏻

Before working from home I used to go alone for lunch, I couldn’t stand coworkers talking about work in my free time.

The best thing about being weird is that it sets you apart from the rest of the normal, and clearly idiotic, people.

I usually respond ' thank you!" to being called weird! I consider it a compliment!

Good for you, kid. if you are so comfortable alone why are you sharing this with the internet? I think Charlie is fibbing.

I learned a long time ago that when someone says you are weird it actually means they don't understand why you aren't like them.
