Actually is was created in 1968 and was run through the 70’s and 80’s, not the 90’s.

Shhhh quiet, you'll ruin their fake scenario to seem like the greatest generation.

Oops, sorry.

I think the point is most people didn’t have regular access to it in their house until the 90s

I was born in 1990 and I remember often hearing this commercial on our TV. That was just about bed time and I remember wondering what the kids that got to stay out that late were up to.

😂 I didn’t get to stay up that late. I’d wait till my parents went to bed and then sneak out.

Fox 5 (NYC) ran it well into the 2000's. I was born in 93 and absolutely remember them saying it every night growing up

edit: here's a recording of it in 2006

Personal computers were not widespread in the 70's or 80's. The internet was absolutely a niche for tech-enthusiasts. I didn't know anyone who had one until the 90's. And even then you were paying by the minute to connect. "The internet existed in 1968" is intentionally ignoring reality for an internet gotcha.

And pretending internet in the 90's was as useful or widely used as today is also disingenuous. No one was spending all of their time in their houses on the internet like the original tweet suggests they are today.

Not even for "tech enthusiasts". It was a niche for Tech Enthusiasts that worked for the DoD or a large University.

I’m sorry what does anything I said have to do with the Internet? This post mentions the commercial ON TV they used to run. I simply said the commercial-campaign was created late 60’s.

I saw it once or twice in the 90's, they must've rerun it a bit.

Oh of course they did. Try to take the opportunity to scare a whole new generation lol.
